Since taking the new job with my current employer some 4 years ago, I've been traveling more as part of my job than ever before.  Many of the trips have been to Copenhagen, where our company is headquartered, but other trips have included destinations in Canada, across the United States, and as you can see in the previous blog, Amsterdam.  Next month will see me in Madrid and Beijing.  So what's the problem?  The problem is I haven't had a truly portable camera to take with me.  That changed today.

After searching for some reviews, and wanting to get something that will produce great pictures and be pretty damn snazzy, I settled on the Sony DSC-T300.  It's tiny, it sports 10.1 MPixels and a 5X optical zoom through a Carl Ziess lense, and best of all - it's almost entirely driven by a gorgeous touchscreen.  It even has some pretty slick features like the face recognition software to focus on people in the scene, but even has a Smile Shutter mode that will trigger a picture only when people are smiling.  What's even better ... it really works!  I was shocked.  The critics of the camera are saying that while the power is there, the chip that drives the pictures make large, 11" x 17" pictures very grainy from the camera.  After thinking on that, anything that I take from this camera will be 5" x 7"s more often than not, so that's fine.

One of the wife's friends take pictures of places they travel, and then make small montages for the hallways in the house.  I love the idea, and plan to start doing that with the upcoming travels.  All I know...it will be more interesting to play tourist now.
