Poor Donald...

While at the gym this morning in an attempt to get back on the bandwagon towards a much needed goal of significant weight loss, the Today Show was up on the television. One segment had Donald Trump on to promote the upcoming season of The Apprentice. However, what do you think the first question posed to him was? “Do you feel it is in good form to reduce yourself to the level of mudslinging with Rosie?” The interview went on for the next 5 minutes with bickering back and forth about who’s right, who’s wrong, who had bad hair, who’s fat, ad naseum.

Now honestly, I couldn’t care less about the whole brouhaha that Trump and O’Donnell have with each other. That stuff is best saved for the supermarket checkouts. But it did get me thinking as I moaned and groaned for another 15 minutes on the Elliptical of Death™–

One of my pet peeves is being ambushed, the subject of someone with a hidden agenda.

I’m sure everyone has had it happen to them at some point in their lives. You are brought into something with one thing in mind, and yet the whole rationale and agenda turns out to be something entirely different. I’ve only seen it in my current position in very minor or inconsequential circumstances, but it’s bound to happen eventually. And when it does...I'm just hoping I can hold to common sense and try not to fly off the handle.

Why do I hate it so? That’s easy – because part of being ambushed is being caught unprepared. Nobody likes looking nor feeling like a moron. However, when you’re ambushed, that’s precisely how you feel. You’re caught with the proverbial pants down around your ankles, and have no choice but to start grasping at the situation and making the best out of it. Yes, you can try the “no comment” route and deflect the person ambushing you to a separate time when you are ready, but that is rarely effective. They made the conscious decision to hit you unaware, and they rarely let it go. I just find the practice, when deliberate, in extraordinary bad taste and try my damnedest not to do it to others.

</rant> Sorry about that...only took me to the second blog to start ranting. Now that should scare away a ton of potential readers! Go me!
