Cortana & The Gravemind Color Completed!

As promised waaaaaaay back when, here is the finished painting of Cortana and the Gravemind. The pencil rendering of this piece was back in week 2 of my Halo art posts if you want to scroll back through through the blog to compare. There was a real mix of opinions as to what direction to take the final colored piece. Lots of you liked the sexy more "victim" look and others the more "evil" possessed look. There was also opinions on what size the Gravemind should be large or smaller to not overpower Cortana in the piece. I ended up mashing allot of the ideas together to come up with the final look. I went with the sexy head configuration, but gave her a more stern expression. She is possessed and being controlled, but she is resisting and confident. I went with the larger Gravemind head but treated him and the background in a unified color style so that Cortana still pops as the feature of the piece. I also added a bunch of the spider like Flood. It added a little interest to the bottom and also more threat to the story of the piece.
