did you know that gay marriage and flag burning are our most important issues right now?

Theres an election this November. The Republicans who currently control the US House and the US Senate think flag burning and gay marriage are the top two issues in America today. Frist on our most pressing issues. Check out your wallet, your gas tank, your health care plan, and the condition of your friends and relatives fighting in Iraq, then think real hard about whether gay marriage and flag burning are the top two issues on YOUR agenda. Then vote.

Crazy. Exactly how is it that they come up with our "most important issues" anyway. Is there some kind of dumb ass formula they use??

I think what they mean is that those are the two most important issues theyre willing to actually talk about. And, by "actually talk about," I mean "actually talk around." Because politicians in an election year are only looking for topics that are clearly defined and easy to take opposite stances on. And any politician who tells me he "knows" how to fix gas prices, the war, or medical care is highly suspect in my mind. Those issues are complex. But, I dont kid myself. Politicians beliefs are tied to what the polls say, and, a "rebel," or a "visionary," is simply a politician whos been told that what the voters are really looking for this time out is a rebel or a visionary. I just hope we someday have a chance to vote for someone who isnt the lesser of two evils. That would be nice.

If gays had been allowed to marry, then Bats would not have the awesome family he does now.

You guys crack me up! :-) Umbee if you ask me they come up with it by finding out which issues will please their corporate Sponsors, and will emotional piss off their base constituents to drive them to vote against their own best interest and vote for Republicans, but thats if you ask me, and i tend to be a tad biased. :-) Hey Monkee thanks for posting up a comment, I appreciate it. I also appreciate your thoughts on the issue. I agree with most of what you say. I do believe most politicians say what ever they need to to get reelected. I do think there are some "rebels" and "visionaries" out their that are legit :-) Also i agree that Gas prices, the war, health care are complex and i would be suspect of anyone that said they have a magic bullet. However, they should still be discussing it, making those issues a priority and trying to address the complex solutions for the complex problems, isnt that their jobs ?? Thanks for the props Doodie. I cant take credit for the actual words though, I snaged most of it from my favorite political Blog called America Blog Dman, maybe gay people that burn the flag, shouldnt be allowed too marry, but they should be required to come spend their summer living in your guest room. :-) Hey Grim do you always go around stating the obvious? :-) And your right about the family, that bastard Superman would never leave Lois, even though he said he would! The media in my opinion see the war as over. Whether they view it as a loss or a win is a different story. So Iraq has become a non issue in the media therefore a nonissue in "voter" issues. Im a conservative if you cant tell already, however I have left the Bush camp..what broke the camels back was his willingness to roll over on immigration. Im holding out for the house to kill it cause the senate didnt. Flag burning gets alot of people blood flowing that is a nonpartisan issue, unless your part of the ACLU...god dont get me started with them windbags. I dont see it as a major issue that should be driving an election but I do beleive that that issue is brought up to garner some support for a wounded a bleeding republican party. I do see this election going to the dems. Much to my dissapointment, but its really the republicans fault again immigration broke the GOP back. I have never seen such a blatent disreguard of the MAJORITY of the american public concerning immigration in the government. Seeing the numbers of those opposed to an amenisty deal the republican party has ignored its base and gone the other way. Concerned about pissing off future voters once they become citizens is why I think the rep party is ignoring its base. Sorry for the rant but this conservative is VERY VERY disappointed with the GOP. Time will tell.

I used to be a Republican/Conservative,sorta.Then George and Karl came in and blew EVERYTHING.The sheer incompetence of this group astounds me.It seems the only thing they can do right is steal/rig elections.(That actually impressed me,I figured they were Machiavellan and clever).:) This immigration crap blows my mind. The overwhelming majority of America feels we should do something a little more effective than"Guest Worker"status.Whats weird is that with "Guest"status you can work, live and pay taxes here, but not vote.Doh!
