HALO ART - WK #5 - THE FLOOD & A JACKAL!

First off big thanks to all the wonderful comments and crits last week. The revised color is much better on the Brute Chieftain and it wouldn't have happened without all your great suggestions. It goes to show that there is always room to improve, if your willing to listen. :-) Thanks.

Week 5 and it's more bad guys! :-) This week we have good news and bad news. The bad news is that im too busy to create as finished a piece as last weeks Brute Chietian. :-( Im afraid a pencil render of a Jackal is all I could find time for. This will fall in line behind Cortana for coloring before the end of this 12 week effort. As I mentioned last week I never thought much of the Brutes in H2, well I think even less of the Jackels! :lol: :lol: So I have tried to make this guy a little uglier, and meaner looking. Something a bit more threatening then that "Bird/chicken head" look they usually sport. :-).

Ok so thats the bad news. The good news is that we have a special guest contribution. As I finished up the Brute last week I could tell from my work load coming up that I wasn't going to be able to spend allot of time on this weeks Halo illustration. So I sent out a cry for help from my buddy, clan mate (kinda , he still has to accept that invite :lol: ) and often times collaborator on art for the defunct 2old2play magazine. Darth Cestual!! Darth is a wonderful person, a great 2old2play member and a very talented artist. He has an incredible and impressively long STAR WARS fan comic that you can check out here.. He also has co created an amazing board game that according to many 2o2p members that went to last years LAN is a great game to play. I have seen a bunch of his original art for it and its outstanding. So anyway I asked him to draw something for this week that we could collaborate on and I would color it. Being the efficient and prolific artist that he is, he sent me the piece below the next day!!! Im seriously jealous of that kind of speed! :-) His pencil rendering of a Flood infected Soldier, Human and a Jackal is spectacular and Im looking forward to coloring it. There just wasn't time to do so this week. I didn't want to rush it and butcher his outstanding pencils. So I'm posting it up so that you all can enjoy it and I do so with the promise to add color soon. :-) Thanks again Darth, excellent work dude!!!

In honor of Darths contribution this week I have also reached back into the archive files and posted up an illustration of a red Spartan that he and I collaborated on for an article in the 2o2p Mag. It was one figure in a wide evolution of FPS game characters illustration. I always thought the Spartan came out very cool and I dont think allot of members got a chance to check it out. So here it is again, enjoy.

As always comments and crits are encouraged and any suggestions for next week are always welcome. :-) Only a few more bad guys left, then it's back to the heroes! Where is the Master Chief any way!??!! :lol: For those counting down, this weeks post means only 8 more weeks till launch OH YEAH!!!
