Political Quote Of The Week #2

Im sure allot of you are like, "man dude cant you get back to posting pictures of your artwork and toys! " I will, I will I promise. But life and the politics of the day just keeps kicking me in the teeth every day and I need a place to fight back in what little manner I have. Thats what Super-heroes do. :-) Once again the Republican controlled Congress sells us down the river. For those of you out there blaming both sides in congress, remember the Republics have complete majority control and the White House controls them. This news item just exemplifies this problem as well as the complete lack of oversight by Congress, not because of Democrats, because of Republicans doing the biding of the White House. One Democratic response to this decision, quoted in the article, was spot on

"The deal prompted protests from Democratic lawmakers, who said the Republican-controlled Congress had refused to challenge the administrations expansion of presidential authority. "Why dont we just recess for the rest of the year, and the vice president will just tell the nation what laws well have?" said Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy, ranking Democrat on the committee."

So once again the Law of the land is broken by the White House/NSA and the Telecommunications companies and congress backs off. Our protections get trashed, our privacy gets taken away, the office of the President gets more powerful, the rich get filthy rich and the majority of the country are to busy watching American Idol to even notice that the country has changed.

Im willing to give up my freedom of "privacy" and let the NSA listen to my phone calls (I personally think that they probably have better things to do anyway, like listen to phone calls of actual criminals and terrorists) in order to catch some terrorists who are plotting to try and kill me. Arent you?

I agree with you somewhat the Batman. But lets not for ourselves into thinking the Democrats arent just as responsible. The Republicans may control the congress but the Democrats still control the most powerful arm of the government, The Media. If they didnt want it to happen they could have made some more noise on the Clinton News Network or any of the major stations. Besides, the Republicans havent taken away any of my rights and the only ones even attempting to do so are Dems. So the NSA listens to a few phone calls, only the criminals need to worry. Its Democrats like Jack Thompson, Hiliary Clinton and Tipper Gore who have attepted to take away my freedoms such as buying the music I want, raising my kids the way I want, and buying whatever video game I feel like buying.

KD- I will post up some original sketchs from the work i have in this months 2o2p magazine later today, promise :-) 007- Im not, arent the freedoms and the right to privacies we enjoy in this country what we are in fact trying to protect? So to take them a way in the name of fighting terrorism is to me loosing the war. To those that say on the talking heads shows, "you cant enjoy your freedoms if your dead" I say "Give me liberty or give me death" Bush is always saying that the terrorist want to take our freedoms away. Well so far the only ones taking our freedoms away are him and the Republican congress. Anyway there is a whole law and process set up for listening to any phone call they want to. Its called the FISA act and all they have to do is request approval from a FISA judge to tap a phone or phones. This can even be done retroactive up to 72 hours. They dont want to have the courts approve it, i wonder why. Mean while only 10% of the containers coming into our ports are checked , they tried and are still trying to sell our port security to a foreign country with ties to Al qaeda, our nuclear facilities remain un guarded properly, they cut the airline baggage checkers and federal air marshals programs in the last year and re privatized them after having federalized it after 91, FIMAs ability to respond to a large scale terrorist attack is worse now then at 911, Osama and his boys are still out there plotting 4 years later, and our military is torn apart fighting in Iraq to protect Bushs oil cartel. So before they take anymore freedoms away here in the name fighting terrorism, I say lets see some actual fighting first!!!

One other thought . Whats too much? if its ok to tap our phones with out court approval, is it ok if they read our email? What about searching our house without warning or court order? What about dragging your computer off both at home and at work without a warrant? What about putting you in jail without a trial or access to a lawyer? Where do you draw the line? Once they step over it and you dont fight it, theyll keep stepping.

Bayman- we just completely disagree on this then. First off the fantasy that the media is "liberal" and "Democraticly" controlled is just that, a fantasy. You mean "liberal" news casters and media figures like these people: Ann Coulter, Bill OReilly, Rush Limbaugh, Jonathan Hoenig, Chris Matthews, Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz, Gary Bauer, Tony Blankley, Jeff Birnbaum, Joe Klein, Pat Buchanan, John Gibson, Glenn Beck, Neil Cavuto, Tim Russert, Tucker Carlson, Pat Robertson, Brit Hume, Sterling Burnett, Bret Baier, Wolf Blitzer, Joe Scarborough, Michelle Malkin, Bill Bennett, David Horowitz, Keith Olbermann, Laura Ingraham, David Asman, Michael Savage, James Taranto, Steve Doocy, Lou Dobbs, Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Don Imus, David Broder, Bob Schieffer, G. Gordon Liddy, Pat Caddell, Claire Shipman, Robert Novak, Wendell Goler, Fred Barnes, Michael Smerconish, Miles OBrien, John ONeill, Jon Scott, Major Garrett, Oliver North, just to name a few. Look at how the main stream media has completely ignored the election article i posted ealier in the week. CNN did one brief interview of Kennedy. But on the whole they have ignored it. Instead we keep getting stories about the Clintons marriage and how it is on the rocks. WTF!!??!! What about Fingolds legislation on censure of the President, media ignored it, or triviallised it. How about Harry Reids statement yesterday in response to Bushs Gay Bashing Amendment speech, did you hear about that any where other then my blog? I doubt it. Dude the media is also controlled by the White House and the Republicans now. Thats because it is owned by large corporations that are profit based and could care less about good journalism. What they want it more legislation that de regulates them and allows for their monopolies to grow. Bush has helped that process so they turn the other cheek. As for your right to buy certain music or video games, correct me if Im wrong but is their any game or album you cant but right now? And are you putting the debate of whether video games and music should have a rating system for parents to make better purchasing decision on the same level as Politicians knowingly breaking the law and trampling on our constitutional freedoms and rights? Listen i dont agree with any kind of censorship. To me it is a direct contradiction of our first amendment rights. Let people decide what they are willing to support and let that art live or die in the market place as a result. And i think Hillary is a putz for making it an issue. But with all that is happening in this country now, and all that is being done by the republican leadership at all levels of the government, I think you are missing the tree for the forest if you think that our current ills are Democratically created in any way. I have already stated in this blog that allot of Democrats have been enablers and we should toss their ass out too, i agree.

I agree with you that its a slippery slope once you start down that path. If there is anyone who feels strongly about defending the rights of individuals, its me. Gun control is one of my pet peeves, but that is another subject. Are the politicians and the laws they make perfect? No. But I think that its a little naive to think that its all Bush. Peace.

I dont believe they listen to individual phone calls, most of the actual program is computer diagnostics detecting key phrases and area of the world being called, and key terrorist names etc. I admit big govt worries me sometimes, but the alternative worries me even more, I am more concerned about all the illegals running as fast as they can across our borders and the lack of govt or most states to do anything about it, and the idea to pamper them when they come here illegally. Blog jack ended :-)

If you don`t like what Bat puts in his blogs, then why do you read it? Everyone`s allowed to think what they want, and can write what they want in their own blog surely?

Thanx Skiddy i appreciate the support for my freedom of Blog Speech :-) I dont think anyone has really posted anything to aggressive though. The whole point is for there to be a dialogue so that I learn something new and hopefully others take a minute to see things another way. As long as people dont get threatening, over rude and obnoxious im cool. And like you said it is my Blog my opinion im sure that those that really disagree with me have probably just moved on :-) Ill give ya shout though when the death threats start coming LOL Ill need a fellow OMM , especially one with a bad ass Pulp Fiction siggy for back up LOL LOL :-) On a serious tip, ever notice how its the liberal voices that always are getting the death threats. I mean with all the hate and obnoxious narrow mindedness of a Rush Limbaugh you never hear that anybody is threatening their life. Oh well just one of those WTF thoughts :-)

Hey Wolf Im impressed. The congress cant get these guys at the NSA or the White House to clarify exactly what they are doing and to who they are doing it too. But clearly they are asking the wrong people, all they had to do was get with you ! You seem to have all the knowledge as to what they are doing and how they are doing it. J/K :-) As i stated above im all for tracking and catching terrorist. I dont have a problem with them spying domestically. they just need to follow the law like you have to and i have too. You see I believe that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. if they dont have to get a FISA court warrant then we just have to trust that these guys in the White House arnt using that spying for political or personal gain or to destroy legitimate efforts of journalists or opponents to expose other illegal activities. You have to admit with this administration track record of lying about every little thing I dont have allot of trust. The laws and warrant system takes away the need for trust. they have to explain to a judge their rationale and get a warrant. I believe up until this mess the FISA judges had like almost a 100% approval of warrant requests so its not like they wont get approval, and as i also pointed out they can get it 72 hours retroactive so it wont slow anything down. The illegal alien issue is a whole other can of worms. Why may i ask are you so stressed out about immigrants coming across our boards right now. Did i miss something , has this become some sort of huge issue that hasnt been there as far back as there has been an American boarder. yeah Its an issue but my god its been going on for decades and all of a sudden its this incredible problem that has to be addressed. Give me a fucking break dude! they want it to be an issue so you dont get pissed more about the rest of the real problems that are new and Republican created like the war, the shitty economy, the Katrina disaster, more people un insured, out of control gas prices and the plotters of 911 still out there with no justice handed out. Let me tell ya if they really wanted to stop illegal immigration its quite simple. Fine the freaking companies and industries that employee these workers and the shit would stop A fucking SAP! So they scream Illegal immigrants are coming and going to steal your jobs, while they wink at the companies that create the motivation for those south of the border to come here illegally. As for stealing our jobs, I would freaking pay money to see fat old, illegal prescription drug addict, Rush Limbaugh pick lettuce all day in the california heat. Again it comes down to politicians and companies being held accountable to the law. You can bash and attack those coming here to work and start a new life , like every-other person in this countries relatives did at one point or another, or you can hold the those responsible for inviting them to come here by employing them illegally. By the way I dont see your post as a thread jack, it was on topic in my opinion. :-) And as always no hard feelings, its cool to agree to disagree. I feel strongly about these issues and Im aspect those that post here with different opinions feel the same way about their point of view. As long as we can discuss it there is hope for everyone! :-) BAT
