Favorite Game on Your Past Consoles

So, it's long since past time for a new blog entry.  I recently watched "King of Kong" as well as caught the first episode of "Rise of the Video Game" and so the nostalgiac juices have been flowing.  I thought about my favorite games from the consoles I have owned and thought it might be a fun list to just display your absolute favorite and maybe a brief explanation.  I didn't have all the consoles, so I only listed what I owned. Not a top 3 or 5, but just your favorite, so it can be obscure for whatever reason you enjoyed it.  You can include 1 from pre-console or arcade days too...

Pre-console days - Arcade:   Super Sprint
Why?  I was really good at it!  I could not get enough of those wheels - I loved to spin those things.  Watching King of Kong, I noticed a Super Sprint game setup at the famous arcade where people go to break records and I was tempted to hunt down a practice unit!!  :)

Atari 2600:   Pitfall!
Why?  The groovy music that is still etched in my brain when you swing from a vine.  Ahh, yes, and now it's in your head.  Started the whole side-scrolling gaming and was a blast.

NES:   Super Mario Bros.
Why?  I know, this one is boring as it's on all the lists, but it absolutely had me mesmerized - I remember being at school just counting down the minutes so I could get home, grab a snack, and fire up the NES.  For a more obscure title that was a close second -  how about R/C Car Action!!!  I loved that game.  Punch Out was awesome too.  By the way, I had one of the early NES systems with that crazy robot attachment.  I don't ever remember playing that gyro game that came with it and I don't remember new ones with that capability - I think it was short-lived...

Super NES:   John Madden Football (92 version)
Why?  I was in college, I love football and had enjoyed Tecmo Bowl and and I wore the first console version of Madden out with my college buddies.  Being able to drop back, elude the rush, scramble, and then heaving the ball 50 yards for a completion and easy TD was just awesome.  While football games today offer a much more realistic experience, I still enjoyed playing the old ones more.  Only exception is ESPN2k5 for the Xbox, that game ruled and I am still PO'ed at EA Sports for killing the competition.

Playstation:   Crash Team Racing
Why?  I played a lot of PS games (thanks to the ability to play "backup" versions - woot!)  Anyway, while I liked several games on the platform, there are none I enjoyed playing more than Crash Team Racing.  I loved the Mario Kart series and had been missing this since I didn't have a N64, so this one was a welcome addition and never got old when playing with friends.

(Decided against a PS2, waited around for Xbox)

Xbox
:  Halo CE
Why?  This one brought me back into gaming and is still my favorite.  On a completely different level than any previous console game - I was blown away.  Big props to Bungie for bringing this series to life as it has changed the FPS landscape forever.  A close second on the Xbox is ESPN 2k5 - that game was amazing.  I was even a member of the "espn2k5forever" website community who tried to keep the rosters current and the gameplay alive after EA screwed consumers over with the NFL license.  It's also fair to mention that while I was not a fan of Halo 2 campaign, the emergence of Xbox Live and the ability to play Halo with friends online was monumental.  It's what also brought me to this site 3 years ago, as I learned quickly about the "timmies" and I didn't have the patience to endure that crap.  So glad 2o2p is around!
