Parents maybe got it for the kids when it was a puppy, and cute. Then it stopped being cute. Just like every Easter. People go and get Easter chicks, and a week or three later, the chick starts to become a chicken, so they just get rid of them one way or another. My dad had a neighbor who was moving away, and wasn't going to take his PIA cat. He told the people on the other side of his house that my dad was adopting the cat, and he told my dad that the other people were adopting the cat. So, some people are just shitty like that. You might want to see if the local pet stores(or Google) can suggest any animal outreach deals in your area. SC

Actually, they had only had him for a few days. Somebody give him to them. The daughter didn't like him because she wanted a Yorkie.
