I’ve always liked Best Buy. They have a very reasonable selection and the sales people (in my area at least) are moderately helpful without being a nuisance.
Back around the time I bought my Yamaha YSP-800 I signed up for a Best Buy Rewards Zone card. Why not? I thought to myself. I do a decent amount of business there, though at the time I had no idea how much would be coming. I used it with every purchase I made there, big or small, and even saw a couple of small coupons come my way for $5 off any purchase. Then, about the time I bought the TV it appeared that my account had been “hijacked” by some other person. After fussing with the salesman for some time I ended up just getting a new account started.
The TV was a pretty large purchase and a couple of weeks later I checked my Reward Zone account online to see that I had a $50 certificate waiting for me. It had to be used by July (If I remember right) and since I had no immediate needs I figured I’d put it off until Forza2 came out and apply it to that. Well, end of May comes around and guess what? I can’t log into my Reward Zone account online anymore. I call customer “service” and discover that my account has once again been assigned to someone else.
After spending more then an hour on the phone I managed to have the CS rep locate every purchase I had made for the past year. She even offered to allocate an additional 1000 points to my account for my trouble.
Now here we are at the end of June. I decide to go pick up a copy of Shadowrun and think “Hey, let’s print off that coupon”. Guess what? You can see where this is going I bet. No luck logging in again. So I call the BB rep and they tell me that my case is still being investigated a month later.
“When can I expect to get this resolved?”
“We don’t have any control over that. It’s been forwarded to the appropriate dept. and is in their hands now.”
This sounds like I’ll never get that credit. Until I do, I will never darken the door of a Best Buy again. It’s a shame really, that store was always like a Toys R Us for me.
