This time I hooked it up and viola, no HDMI output and similar problems as the first replacement machine had. So, back to CS and eventually, after having to rehash my problem 2 different times, I get connected with "advanced" technical support. After relenting to allow a field tech to come check out my setup, I explained to her that the HDMI was still bad so this unit was going to have to be replaced regardless. That eventually got through to her and we decided to try one more time to put another unit in before we sent out a tech.
Yesterday that unit finally arrived. The first thing I noticed was that it was a brand new unit, complete with all new cables and manuals and a new access card. The other units must have been "re-furbished" models. Well after a quick hook up, presto, everything works perfectly. I guess the real test will be to see if it all continues to work over the next several weeks. It makes me wonder though. I've always been a little leary of purchasing "re-furb" products anyway. This just seems to re-enforce my position.
All I know is, thank goodness that this all happened while their was nothing good on TV. If I had missed 24 b/c of this, there would have been hell to pay!
