The High Price of Entertainment

When did entertaining myself get to be so expensive?

$120/mo. - Directv
$ 23/mo. - Sirius Satellite Radio
$ 15/mo. - Zune Pass
$ 100/year - XBL
$ 18/mo. - Netflix
$ 23/mo. - GameFly

That comes out to a little over $200 per month.  I really thought that I might need to cut something out but unfortunately I've grown too dependent on all the various services I use to keep myself entertained.  Of course none of that counts the various dinners out, movie theater trips, game purchases or any other various non-subscription based forms of entertainment that I might participate in in the course of a month.  There is probably something seriously wrong with my psyche that keeps me justifying the cash outlay I waste every month on these things but for now I keep opening up my wallet.  It's kinda sad actually.

@ Castle - So is sex with my wife. I know that's something that wouldn't come up in your house often so I guess I understand where you comment comes from. :D

Thumbs up, I don't feel so bad about my habits now! @Big - thanks for offering your wife to all of us for free, but I don't like to share my "toys" so I will pass. :-)

lol. I'm just giving you optional ways for Big0ne (AND I QUOTE) "to entertain myself". I was assuming you were alone in these endevours.... BTW, thanks for an idea on what to do later tonight.

Actually my wife benefits from all the above expenses. So I guess I'm entertaining us both. I forgot the $10/wk. I pay to play soccer as well...

$120 / month is a little steep to pay for Tv. You need to find a way to half that amount.

Do you live in some alternate universe where there are 36 hours in a day? I only ask because some of that stuff seems overlapping and you could combine needs.

Think of all the starving Hollywood writers. You should send half of your entertainment dollars directly to the destitue writers in Cali.

No one has asked the only pertinent question: ARE you entertained?

@Drewsky: When you need content for 5+ TV's, many of them HD and with DVR's, plus premium channels, etc. - it gets expensive.
