Shared on Tue, 09/19/2006 - 07:49Sometimes I think intelligent people read CNN.com, and other times I'm not so sure. So I was reading an article about cities using bluegills (also sunfish or bream) as "canaries in a coal mine", they write, to detect if toxins are introduced into its water supply. Then I come across this:
"They do have limitations. While the bluegills have successfully detected at least 30 toxic chemicals, they cannot reliably detect germs. And they are no use against other sorts of attacks -- say, the bombing of a water main, or an attack by computer hackers on the systems that control the flow of water."
No shit? You mean to tell me that there's no way to use a Bluegill to detect hackers or bombs? This is an outrage! Find a way to hook those fish up to a cat5 cable or train them for an ordinance team or some shit because I won't accept that! OMG.
