Shared on Sat, 01/10/2009 - 10:31Friday nights I'm supposed to play Far Cry 2 on the 360 with some people in the 360 map making community....that game fell through as all the those mappers seemed to be map making! lol
So I decided I'd play some Halo 3. Halo 3 is such a great pick up game. You can fire it up and ram off 2 games in about 10 - 15 minutes. Unfortunately when Halo 3 becomes frustrating it makes me want to punch kittens. Every second game was a complete lagfest. People kept dropping and making the teams unbalanced. I kept getting paired up with some singing 11 year olds or some guys that just would not stop talking....uggg! The lag was really the killer - so I decided to go play on my PS3.
I played a little Resistance 2 competitive but I was having a hard time finding a good Core Control game so I quit that and then I fired up Warhawk.
ahhh Warhawk thank you thank you thank you! I had my pick of games. A lot of dedicated servers, serving up nice big 32 player CTF games. Ooh look an official dedicated server running Archipelago (acropolis assault) my favorite map for CTF! (a number of raised islands connected with bridges).
I jumped into the game and spawned into absolute chaos. Big beautiful colorful explosions, screams of dying players, the screeching metal on metal sound of AA guns as the turned to follow the screaming Warhawks overhead, land mines launching fast moving jeeps 30 feet into the air, the pata-pata-pata of the people working the .50 cals. People on the mics calling out enemies in panic stricken voices. It was a gorgeous symphony of destruction and mayhem. All that with balanced teams (even with players coming and going) and a very close game (no caps for either team), huge teams and zero lag. I didn't even fly a Warhawk because I haven't played in awhile and knew that if I jumped in a Warhawk I was dead. I played the good foot soldier. Laying down mines, sniping enemies from across the map, taking down Warhawks with my rockets and fighting for control points in tanks. That game ended in a tie. No one won. But I was happy - the game was so back and forth. Such a struggle and epic battle on the center islands. So much fun - even with the GP.
Thanks for being there for me in my time of need Warhawk!
