Not much of a blogger myself because my life is pretty boring.  I've little interest in hearing about my work and I don't think others want to hear it either.  But I decided to include this one anyway.  With the death of my xbox for a short time, we decided in our boredom to start looking at getting a dog.  We are moving into a condo in June, and need something that can handle being in an apartment.  We had originally thought about getting a puppy and had put in an application on one, but while we were waiting, we stumbled across pictures of a little Beagle/Basset hound in a pound in Aurora, about an hour north of Toronto.  He was a stray that had been found wandering the area with a female companion.

Having last Friday off of work to meet the mortgage manager at the bank, we rushed out of the bank to drive up there to meet him.  Out of every dog in the kennel, he was the only one who didn't go crazy and start barking when we came in the door.  He calmly stood up and strolled to the front of his cage when we came to him.  This is him about an hour after walking through the door of our apartment:

He's pretty much taken the place over like he's been there for years.  Aside from two minor incidents of him marking territory, he's been extremely calm.  He's not neutered yet, but will be soon.  He won't bark either, unless we run across a rabbit or raccoon while walking.  Then he'll go crazy to chase them.  He absolutely loves his bath and being brushed, he could spend the whole day lying down while being scratched.  But he has no interest in toys or chewing.  He won't even bother with a rawhide.

It's heartbreaking to think that someone could've mistreated this little guy.  Makes you wonder how these people are allowed to have animals.

Nice dog. We got ours (blue heeler) from a shelter too. No one would adopt her because she was already 7 years old. Pretty quiet, (a little too energetic, but we have half an acre so no biggie) smart, already trained, very sweet and loyal. Her previous owners were keeping her in an unheated garage, I don't know why because she does fine in the house. Their loss.
