The application we had put into a rescue had gotten approved after we adopted Duke, and the rescue organization had liked us so much they wanted to forgo the home visit before the adoption. Since having Duke we've found he gets really, really excited when he sees another dog. He's not too bright and thinks that every dog he sees should love him from the start. But when another dog gets aggressive with him he tends to ignore them and wander off.
Taking him to an offleash park in the past few weeks, we've found him to be most happy when he is running free with the other dogs, having them chase him around and jump all over him. So when we saw the description for Toby, with his mild temperment and quiet nature, we thought'd he'd be a good match for Duke. Aside from a bit of nervous growling trying to assert himself, he's taken to Duke pretty quickly, going wherever he goes.
The little guy is only 10 months old and they think he might be a pomeranian/corgi mix, though he looks a little different. He was found in a box on the side of the road in Ohio with a brother. The rescue group took him from a high-kill pound and transported him here to Mississauga to a foster home, just a few minutes away. This picture is when he got a little scared in the car as we were driving through construction. He had to get up from his spot and go sit by Duke to feel safe. Having him around makes Duke a lot more excited. They are a great pair, hardly making any noise except a short bark from Toby when playing, and always wandering around together and sharing toys.
Luckily Toby's already fixed and vetted, as we found Duke would have been quite costly if we didn't have a vet in the family ($950 for a neuter and ciste removal, that is going to only cost us $300 from the girlfriend's step-mother.)
The bed was made until these two got in there.
