Writing another rant so just sit back, relax and enjoy as much as you can.
Tonight I was watching Dr. Phil. They were talking about people that are addicted to gaming. Now I don't feel it was clarified that people that are addicted are just that.....addicted. The game itself is not evil. Dr Phil did point that out ONCE but I don't feel it was enough. They talked about the young man that shot himself after Everquest and the mom outright said the game was to blame and that they hadn't heard the last of her.
I guess what I don't understand is why are people blaming the games? It isn't the games but the people behind it. Games can be very addicting, I completely understand that but it is not the games fault if you can't control yourself and you are on too often. People that shoot themselves because of Everquest CANNOT blame the game. A person that shoots themselves needed help. That simple. No matter what the mother says there was something wrong there in the mind of the player. Did the video game possibly trigger it? That could be a possibility. But to blame the game? I think not. At that point, the family or friends are making excuses for their loved one. Is it a tragedy that their loved one died? Absolutely. Is it solely the game's fault? No.
It bothers me that people are blaming games for the mental sicknesses of their family members. To me that is like blaming the car for a person that loves to drag race and ends up getting killed. I guess my point is that people should not blame games for something going on in their loved one's life. The game can affect a person's life but it is not mind control. The person HAS the choice. The game does not MAKE anyone do anything.
If a person is addicted they absolutely need help. I am not downplaying that at all but DON'T blame the game. That is silly. People can't take something they don't understand and blame it. That is what has happened in the past in history and now it is repeating itself again with the games being the new witch. Witch trials anyone?
