My sad story

Ok so maybe it is only sad to me.  But am going to share anyway.  I came home this weekend to be with my family as well as ride my bike.  I took my bike out this morning, got all ready to ride, knowing I was going to have to let it warm up since it has been so cold. I turned on the fuel on, and got ready to go.  I put it in neutral, turned on the run button, pulling in the clutch, hit the start button and.....it coughed and then clicked.

Now anyone that knows anything about cars knows that the clicking sound is a horrible, horrible sound.  Well it is the same for bikes.  My battery was dead.   So I had to take off the back seat and then my seat to get to the battery. We tried to jump it but no luck.  Called Harley and to get a new battery, get it taken in, and installed.  $128.00.  The battery is smaller than the seat on my bike and it costs $99.95.  So now I have to figure out how to get it there so that they can put the battery in.  I asked them how easy it would be to do but because of my bike, well....of course it is one of the harder ones with the negative hook up right down in the middle of a mass of wires.  I guess I am just going to pay Harley to fix it because if anything is wrong then I know they will back their work.

My riding season is running down and I am thinking it just got much, MUCH shorter.  -sighs-  Dang it.

One day I am going to learn how to put pictures in here so that I can put in a pic of my bike. :-)  See you guys tomorrow night.

Owning a Harley is like owning a PC, you'd better know how to work on it if you're going to use it. Sucks that you're being hosed for 130 bucks man.

Get a repair manual, Harley are pretty easy to work on. My second bike was a 1956 pan-head didn't know any thing about one when I bought it within 9 months I could rebuild it from the ground up. Good Luck.

I can't get to the negative wire down in the midst of the other wires. If there is a way to get to it easier than I am thinking I would love to learn. Thank you Kwazy. Lost - This is me. You probably have mad skills with mechanical things. I am great at changing lightbults and plugging in plugins. We shall see what happens. For me....it may just be easier to pay the amount and know it is done correctly and I didn't accidently knock the wires loose on my turn signals and rear brake. -laugh- But any help would be greatly appreciated.
