And Justice For All...

ALright, I'm crappy at blogging - mainly because I find the best blogs are the ones where people (Tank, Soup) find funny pictures and make me laugh.  I, however, would like to use my blog to reminisce about things.  The first thing that comes to mind is the album "And Justice For All", by Metallica.

The year is 1988.  I am a junior in HS and have friends I hang out with mainly from all the music things that I do.  I was in jazz band, symphonic band, a dinner band the music teacher created (i got paid!)... and other assorted stuff.  I hang out with David Stone a lot.  David was an air force kid (his dad was a pilot) - and honestly, probably one of the coolest people I have ever met.  Genuine cool.  He was into things that I wanted to be into, but didn't know existed.  Case in point, I do not recall knowing of a band called Metallica.  Every time I would go to his house, he would play this album ON VINYL! and we would listen for hours.  Seriously, hours.  There's so much going on in that album.  It just rocks!

1989.  David and his father plan on going to see Metallica at the Salt Palace (can you guess where I grew up?) - but then his dad decides not to go... guess who goes?!?!?  YES.  One of the best all time concerts EVER.  Queensryche opened... take hold of the flaaame!...

I'm not crazy about the metallica albums after the "black" album.  When I think of Metallica, I think of this album and Ride the Lightening.  I always like to think of the time period where I discovered Metallica, and then got to see them when they were on top of the world!

David Stone and I lost touch many years ago.  If anyone knows a free-jazz sax player with long hair in the St. Louis, Georgia area - let him know I'd like to talk with him.

Color our world blackened BLACKENED! Huge Metalica fan here! It's a shame that James' voice isn't what it used to be. Ah well, it makes me happy knowing that they will be remembered as one of the greatest rock bands of all time! m/

Cool, I saw that tour as well. It's a shame what Metallica turned into though, AJFA is one of my top ten favorite albums of all time. m/
