A true blog – from the heart – as best as I can do it. After watching a show on TV… I believe it is worthy of my thoughts concerning it.

Before I tell you what it is that has my writing bug going, lets go back. Back to Night Music… back to the live bands on SNL, or even whatever show you saw that showed a true band playing their music…

I have that show – at its root, a show about music. Delve deeper and it’s a show about the band or person you know (or don’t) that plays music.

I’m trying to create some interest, but I’ll give in. The show is “Live from Abbey Road” on Sundance Channel. The episode that has me writing is the one with Natasha Bedingfeild, Gipsy Kings, and Iron Maiden.

Let’s start with Natasha Bedingfield. Honestly, I know nothing of her music. All I know is this format and this show bring her and the music out and makes it immediately accessible.

The second band was Gipsy Kings. I am somewhat familiar with this band, as I have been listening to their music since 1996. Simply put – a great glimpse into seeing a great band play live.

Lastly – Iron Maiden. Where do I fucking start? It’s fucking Iron Maiden. They play a recent song and also a song from The Number of the Beast. That album – well, I kept that tape a secret from my parents when it first came out so they wouldn’t take it away from me. They still rock as well as they ever did – and I relived a past I had soon forgotten – one where I was young, and hoped my interest in things didn’t make my parents mad.

There are a few episodes… but just remember Abbey Road Studios is not only the place where the Beatles recorded their famous album, but it is also a historic, and possibly haunted and gifted venue for playing and hearing music.

Honestly - I understand your comments. I stopped listening to Iron Maiden after PowerSlave, but hearing them still sound good after all these years is a credit to them and their "staying power".

I never really had a taste for IM, because they followed a format for each individual song they never strayed from... Bruce would sing at the top-register of his falsetvoice and there would be a solo. Queen suffered from the same format, Freddy would prance around with his (to me) unpleasant voice and May would do a solo. Song after song. After a while, you get the notion you heard it all before.
