Radio Host Posts Bail For Vigilante

I listen to a lot of talk radio.  Being in the SF Bay Area, it's sometimes hard to find a good station that doesn't get on my nerves with a bunch of whacko liberal BS, so I usually listen to a radio station out of Sacramento.  KFBK is owned by Fox (say what you will) and I find them to be less irritating with their news than most radio stations.

Today it was reported than a man in south Sac shot one of three teenagers attempting to steal his truck.  It was not the first time he has had his truck stolen or his house broken into.  It was actually the 5th time.

****   DAMN... sorry, watching the Giants/Padres and the Padres just got a 2 run home run.... ****

Anyway, this time he shot one of the teenage hoods with a .22 rifle in the chest.  His buddies dropped him off at a hospital and he was identified. They are still trying to find the other 2.  Police charged the man that shot him and set his bail at $30,000.

When a talk show host, Tom Sullivan, found out about it and gathered all the facts, he posted the man's bail.

And for some reason - it's hard to find any other information about this.

What do you think?  How far can you go to protect you property and livelihood?

Should this man get jail time?  Did he go too far?  Does it make a difference that the thieves were teenagers?

I would link to the story – but it’s still fresh and the links I’ve found are slow to load…

I'm all for defending life and livelihood, but you have to be aware of your surroundings. It would have been better if he were to have called the cops and given a description of the vehicle. But, after being targeted five times, I can understand his frustration. The fact they were teenagers is not relevant. They should know right from wrong and the potential consequences. Interestingly, of that had been an off-duty cop, there would be no problem. Hm.
