Shared on Thu, 12/07/2006 - 13:31So I'm old, I listen mostly to news radio when I'm in my truck, but I have enjoyed another radio station for several years and I would like to shre it with you guys (and gals)
the link is KVHS and you can stream it if you like.
It is a student run radio station not far from where I live. It is inside the a High School and the biggest thing I like about it, besides the music mix which is alternative/heavy metal, is the commercials they run. Actually, they don't have commercials. What they call it is "thank yous" to businesses that make donations to the station. Some of them are hilarious.
If you listen closely to some of the older station identifications, you may recognize their most famous alumnus, Jason Richards. He's also known as "drunk girl" from SNL.
They allow students and adult residents to take the classes, which is actually learning how the radio station runs. I really want to do it, but right now I don't have the time. It's like you need to go 9-1pm (plus on air time if you get a DJ spot) Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Anyway, give it a listen and see what you think.
