I haven't really paid much attention to the PS3 since launch, but now all of the sudden I am interested. Couple that psuedo-announcement with the new game Stranglehold, and I am almost peeing my pants.
To explain, the new game John Woo's Stranglehold takes the 1992 Hong Kong action flick "Hard-Boiled" and uses the creative elements to make an action game. I played some of the demo last night and there is "Tequila-time" (Tequila is the name of Chow Yun-fat's character in Hard-Boiled). It's bullet-time, and yes, it's not new, but as a fan of the movie, I had a blast playing through the demo. You can get star points for creative jumping, diving, and using items (such as a roll-cart) to gain an advantage over your opponents.
So how does this relate to the PS3? The PS3 version will contain the game, and the movie Hard-boiled on blu-ray. That's kinda cool, and the 360 version does not contain the movie.
So with that great movie on blu-ray, what appears to be a fun game, and a significant price drop for the PS3 - maybe I will be getting a PS3 soon. It also has become clear that HD-DVD format may have lost the HD wars, so a blu-ray player for $399.00 is a great deal.
