I figured I would throw my two cents in here. I have the platinum in inFamous and I am approaching the end of my first play through of Prototype. Both are open world sand box type of games that throw you into a roll of someone trying to figure out why they have changed and what is happening around them. Ill try to keep it short and not spoil anything. Ill also comment on the trophy layout as well.

Prototype- This is made by a company called Radical entertainment. They were the guys behind Hulk Ultimate Destruction and if you have played that game, well Prototype seems to be built the same engine that Hulk used except upgraded of course. The graphics are really clean and there is a ton of stuff on the screen with some pop in. I think that is really impressive about the game because has to be the fastest moving sandbox game I have ever seen. Your powers also allow you to run straight up walls, and being set in NYC the tons of skyscrapers you can just sprint up is nice. The main character you play as is named Alex Mercer. He has mutated somehow and can mutate himself on the fly. Alex has a ton of moves, almost too many of them actually. The stand out of this game is the really bloody action. Cutting people in half both vertically and horizontally, pinching their heads off, and impaling them and slamming them to the ground are just a few of the moves you will perform. There is a stealth element to the game because Alex has the ability to consume people which allows him to be disguised as the person he consumed. I have to note that by consuming special targets you unlock the mystery surrounding the game by getting involved in the web of intrigue. Certain special targets that you consume will allow you to see their past. Think of this like the audio diaries in Bioshock, but instead of just picking up a recording your ripping the memories out of people. I don't find the story in this game very compelling at all, I have even got to the point where I play the game with the sound off and just listen to Itunes. Many of the trophies are associated with killing or destroying people and vehicles. The timed challenge trophies though are pretty rough. There are hundreds of collectibles between hint orbs, land mark orbs, and hunting down the web of intrigue.

inFamous- This is made by Sucker Punch Studios, the guys behind the Sly Cooper games. Infamous however, is built on an new graphics engine. It has a very gritty and dark look to it which sets the mood of the game really well but the game suffers quite a bit with texture pop in. While your walking around you will notice it somewhat but, jump on the top of a moving car and its gets very annoying. Amazingly inFamous does such a good job with its story and setting that this graphical issue never distracts you from what your involved with. The story in inFamous is about a guy named Cole who wakes up after an electrical explosion to find himself with the ability to harness electricity. When you play through the story you can make choices which affect not only the outcome of the game but the look and powers that Cole can use. They base this off of a karma system and the game makes it very clear the outcome of each choice before you make it. This is another area where inFamous shines because it lends itself to two unique playthroughs. Sucker Punch really went out of their way to put emphasis on your choices as a player because everyone on the street will react to what you have done. Also the city itself will change with your actions. The collectibles are split between two groups; dead drops and blast shards. The dead drops are scattered around roof tops on small satellite dishes and the 350 blast shards are stuck just about everywhere. I have to say, the way you find both by clicking the L3 button and having them mark on your mini map for a brief amount of time is a really good addition to this type of game. Its still not perfect, but when you are trying to find all this stuff in the huge world can get frustrating. Most of the other trophies in the game are based around your good/evil actions as a player and the purchasing of you powers.

In the end for me I would have to give an edge to inFamous just based on its replay value and story but both games are really close in quality. It would be like a teacher giving one kid a 89 and another a 85. It all comes down to your likes though, if your more into really violent over the top action Prototype is your game.
