Shared on Mon, 12/04/2006 - 06:58So here I sit at 8 Monday morning, waiting for the principal of our 8 year old daughter's school to call me back. I called Thursday and left a message and never heard anything so I called again this morning. So whats the problem? Her 3rd grade teacher. I HATE her! And apparently I am not the only one. Little by little our daughter has grown to hate going to school. It took almost 10 minutes to get her out of bed this morning. She started crying just before walking out to the bus stop. That broke my heart and I couldn't tell her "Well mommy is getting you transferred to another class TODAY!" because she would tell her teacher. This is not the norm for her. The first 3 years at this school has been awesome. Not one problem with her, except for the little chatter that kids do.
On the first day of school we had a huge rain storm and when Becca got home she actually started crying because her school/class folder got soaked. I told her to get a new one from her teacher and she said her teacher was gonna be mad. WTF? WTF happened in that class the first day for her to be this scared? I kept getting notes from her teacher that she is not focused on her work, she is disrupting the class, she is off in space, she is not turning in her work...Huh? I am not right by her side when she does her homework, I want her to develop good skills on her own. Sure, I am sitting in the next room and available anytime she needs help, and I check her agenda book and all work is completed, correct and signed. They were doing subtraction in the hundreds not long ago. She kept getting all these problems wrong in class yet when she had them for homework she got them all right.
This is not her..her teacher has scared the living shit out of these kids, she has yelled at them. Yes, she has actually yelled at them! (confirmed from Becca) Shit, I don't even yell at her, why the hell is her teacher yelling at these 8/9 year olds? At the end of the summer, she got a note from school telling her the teacher she got. Our neighbor boy (who is older) kept saying "She is mean", not to scare her, just telling her. I also have a friend whose friends boy was in this teachers class last year and was transferred out because of the same problems. Why is this teacher still employed by this school system? I just don't get it. This teacher doesn't realize that she is hurting the fragile egos of these 8/9 year olds by acting this way. Hey, don't get me wrong, I am all for tough love, but I am not gonna scare the shit out of her like that to get her to do something. I think there are better ways then that!
Well, what a nice first blog
Oh BTW, I am Curvy, husband is LB75, we have 1 kid, Becca and 2 very furry German Shepherds, Kane and Allie. And I like Halo
