Oblivion woes

Puttered around on the PC copy of Oblivion last night.  Sometimes when the kids won't go to bed on time, I'm "trapped" upstairs, waiting for them to conk out.

I bought the game on release on a PC that I constructed myself (AMD 3700+) in August 2005.  It has held up well, but now Oblivion periodically crashes to desk-top, which it didn't do six or twelve months ago, which is a little frustrating.

It doesn't have a rhyme or reason.  Zoning doesn't cause it, being in the same area that it crashed last time doesn't cause it.  I guess the game is corrupted somewhere and I need to uninstall and reinstall the game.  Maybe I'll just install it on the other hard-drive to see if that helps...

I usually play a warrior/paladin character in almost every game. I guess I need to go through as a pure mage one of these days.

Booo.. that's the suck. Morrowing did that for me, but it was because my video card was very poor. Good luck, cause it's a fantastic game. What character type do you have going?
