My Best Buy Story

I have a computer. I really do. I noticed some performance issues oh about a month and a half ago I think. It has a warranty. I had teddy take it to Best Buy. The service dept. cheerfully informed them they were booked up and basically they will get around to it.

Fine.

One week later and they tell us the motherboard is fried and send it to the factory and it will be about two weeks. Three weeks later, they tell me they have it back but it has a Trojan on it and asked if I want to spend the 200 + to fix it and install different virus scanner (The McAffee version that comes with my MSN ISP subscription has sucked. Whether the Trojan caused the problems or no, before the computer started dying on me, I was getting no where with MSN, Qwest or McAffee on the problem the diagnostics were saying McAffee was causing). I could of probably cleaned the trojen up myself and know I could of gotten TrendMicro and I_can't_remember_the_name_of_the_spyware_scanner that Best Buy said they would put on (lots) cheaper but I didn't want to mess with it so I said fine to that to. They said a couple of days.

A week later they leave a message at my house that it is done. I space it off a couple days and today they call my office and now the CD/DVD burner doesn't work. Its under warranttee so they can fix it free with one that won't match aesthetically or they can send it back to the factory to get the one made for that model. Dude, I don't have your $225.00 right now so you may as well send it back to the factory so I can have some more time to scrap the funds together. Really the kids care more than I do about the computer, so except for a file I am going to get off it tonight before they send it off again I am really not worried. I figured the extra time was needed to send it to Tait so he could get the incriminating photos he claims he has (you perv  ). [/quote]

I had the same exact experience. My motherboard supposedly crashed, Best Buy sent it off, came back ,my harddrive wouldn't work, sent it back to HP, came back and they put PCcillan on it. Everything is fine now. I payed for the backup and when I went to put my stuff back on it didn't work. lost all my info but Best Buy gave me my money back.

That sucks. The trojan on your computer wouldn't have effected the motherboard or the dvd drive.
