Shared on Mon, 10/29/2007 - 21:340001 - I was up late or early however you wanna slice it, dodging ships. One mile from the dock where we would be stopping and just when I was getting ready to top my tow around not one but two big frigging ships want to be where I'm at. Seems the New Orleans VTS(vessel traffic service) failed to pass on that little bit of info. Luckily the ship Pilots were able to slow down and let me dock.
1100 - Headed off to go grocery shopping for the tug, the store, Ragusa here in LA picked me up and brought me to their place. It was my first time shopping there so I was introduced to the store owner and the butcher and I got down to business. Two hours later, 10 grocery buggies and I'm through. This place knows their stuff too, they had everything boxed up and ready to go once I was through. I picked up some really good cajun/creole things like etouffe, home made sausage and boudin. Great stuff.
1400 - Back to the tug and here comes the office, Port Engineers, Safety and Barge Engineers. All good friends of mine come to say hey. It's been 2 years since my tug has been down so we had some bsing to do. We'll be adding new tile floors throughout the tug so a guy who installs em came by and showed me what they have. Next week we'll be going in for our repairs so prep. is being made.
Three more days and I'm outta here!
