After A.J.'s performance I have become a fan!!  I'm not used to seeng a pitcher get better as the night wears on, especially under that kind of pressure-  (as opposed to the tired arm syndrome that's so common) so he's now on my list of preferred players..    the only other pitcher I had on there previously was Rivera------of course!

My condolensces on being a Yankee fan. Can't imagine how much it must suck to be expected to win the World Series every single year. Pretty amazing that they haven't won it so long despite every effort to buy the championship. Don't get me wrong - I don't hate the Bankees for being the Bankees... I hate the MLB for allowing the situation for the Bankees to exist. It has ruined baseball - until they put in a meaningful salary cap I won't (can't) consider MLB a serious sport. It's like watching a poker tournament and one of the players has pocket aces EVERY time - it doesn't guarantee they'll win EVERY hand - but in the long run they are gonna win most of them. And that's just plain wrong.

I just love how people jump all over the Yankees for spending money. You know - it's not a open salary cap only for New York. Want to have what are considered the better players in baseball? Then ante up. Can't afford it? Then stop pointing the finger elsewhere and know that the ballclubs can only work with what the fans support. Start going to the games and giving the team money to acquire talent with.

Yeah, it's amazing the depths Yankee haters go to hear themselves talk. It's almost like patting themselves on the back for trashing something they inherently know is better. And technically I am a Blue Jays fan but I know entertaining baseball when I see it and the Yankees deliver that to their fans. So I can fully respect that and I love watching Yankee baseball.

Ummm... read my post again, specifically the part where I say, "I don't hate the Bankees for being the Bankees... I hate the MLB for allowing the situation for the Bankees to exist. "

@FlobberWorm - Yes, you said it, and in the same breath condemn them for "trying to buy a championship". If it sounds like a duck, it's a duck. Don't say you don't hate the Yankees when you post something like that, and play like it is otherwise.

Oh I'm not denying that I hate the Yankees - with a deep felt passion I hate them. The only team I hate more is the Dodgers. I hated the Yankees BEFORE their spending destroyed the game.

"- until they put in a meaningful salary cap I won't (can't) consider MLB a serious sport." OK FlobberWorm, what do you do for a living? How about we cap what you can make in any given year? In this country (at least up till now, things may be changing) we have the freedom to earn whatever we can by working hard for it - don't we all want that next raise or feel we aren't paid what we're worth? Without incentive noone would ever aspire to greatness. Great effort deserves great rewards whether it be financial. emotional, whatever it is that motivates the individual seeker. It's one of the things that makes America great! Back to baseball- The Yanks have had their tough years (i.e. a non-existant pitching staff) and have certainly had games where noone could seem to hit the ball.....They haven't won the World Series since 2000 - but according to your theory they should have won every single year because of the $$ spent in salaries?? so perhaps you just proved your own theory wrong? Please keep in mind that in 1996 -when Joe Torre came on as manager he was just an average Nat'l League team manager - and Jeter was just having his rookie year, Posada was a rookie catcher and Rivera was only into his 2nd year of major league pitching- These were not all superstars that the Yankees spent a fortune to aquire. That said, it might indicate that the people doing the scouting for the Yanks may have a better instinct for good raw talent, plus know how to develop it. $$$$ sure didn't win the series for us when we picked up A-Rod in 2004, nor till now! So much goes into making a great team great - and yes I agree the fans play a part. Growing up on Long Island my Dad had me at the games every weekend since I can remember. We did our share of supporting them which in turn brings in revenues! Now I'm in Vermont but cannot wait to get down to the "House That Jeter Built". It's been a long road between their World Series victories and I think this year is the year it has finally come together after a long long time. Jeter - A-Rod - Tex THE BEST!!!! p.s. .....I won't be playing xbox tonight!

Must say I am feeling sooo good today! Yanks take their #27 and having it go till game 6 was a bit nerve-racking! Hope all you other Yankee fans are feeling the relief that it's over, and we've won it - now maybe I will be awake enough to get on cod4/waw tonight and resume some dominations! ***Jeter is #1***
