Shared on Sat, 09/13/2008 - 16:09Today I went to check my tomato plants. I see something move on one of the tomatoes. I take a closer look and see more of these green horned wormy things. What the heck are they??? They are eating my green tomatoes. So I put some rubber gloves on--kept chanting to myself that I could do it--and pulled them off!!! I'm very freak out by it--still am-- but, I removed them all. I don't have the heart to kill them, so I drove them down the road to dump them off with some parts of the plant and already eatin tomatoes.
Green wormy things: Oh, and they pee green!!!!
A few days before this.....
Was attending this event that I had to really dress up for. I couldn't wait to get home to rest and get cozy.
I get home to find this HUGE prying mantis in the tree. It's the tree my hummingbirds like to rest on. I was told that this mantis is big enough that she can catch a hummingbird and kill it. So the mantis had to GO!. I didn't want to hurt her (she was really cool looking). So, I tried to get her down with a rake. Not easy. I thought I had her, when a leaf fell from the tree. I thought it was her that landed on me. I was screaming, jumping, flapping arms, more screaming, a bit of crying, and more jumping. How foolish I felt when I saw it wasn't her, but I looked all dressed up while doing it...Anyway, seeing I was out of my league, I enlisted a gullible helper. Yeah, I'm that nice....lol. Well, he got the big bugger and quickly put her in a bowl I had ready. I was jumping up and down a bit just to keep from freaking out. We took her to a nice far away new home with lots of trees. When we set her free, she just looked at us and kept reaching out to the camera. Then she cleaned her cute (really, it was cute) face. She would turn her head to look at me and then the camera. I have to say I fell in love with her, but seeing how I didn't want to get my head bit off, I said my farewells and we parted. I named her Chompers.
When I got home after releasing the mantis, my hummingbirds had no idea the sacrifice I had made for them. Love is selfish, love is blind.
This is her:

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to pass out on the sofa. . .
