Shared on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 16:07I'm doing a second blog cause my first one doesn't count. WELL IT DOESN'T!....Just remember I'm at child status and at any moment I could have a tantrum fit. Start spitin and yelling all over the place!
I've been in a retro mood lately. I pulled out my old games. Star Fox, Legend of Zelda and Zelda OOT, Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario Bros 3, Maniac Mansion, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, FF 5, Valkyrie Profile, to name a few.
I still own every system I bought and most of my games. I can't part with them. At one time, it was very important to me to have a gold cartridge of Zelda 64. It still is...lol. I have many game soundtracks, some figures, boatloads of game toys, prizes, trades, giveaways and a few--OK a lot of--old game mags. It's the one weird thing I do. But it puts a smile on my face and I love pulling them out to play with. I've been gaming since I was tall enough to stand on the box at the arcade.
Part of the excitement for me is in the finding. That great buy, that rare old game find at a phenomenal price, a game figurine in some far-off remote store. Trading Pokemon with children (and a few other grown nuts like me) at Burger King...LOL. Yes I did that. I was a shrewd trader! Make fun, go ahead. I'm a confident women. Finding it, bargaining for it, and walking away with it. "Gotta Catch'em All!"
Most of these types of gaming stores are gone now. I found a few rare weird stores at Harvard Square in Greater Boston. There are a couple of gaming stores for real gaming nerds mixed in with the tee-shirt kiosks, headshops and comic book (opps, "graphic novel") stores. There was also the largest role-playing game store/clubhouse I've ever seen -- continuous games going on from dawn to past dusk. And all the neat little statue pieces. I've never been into D and D and such, but I do like the cute (and sometimes a bit scary -- cool) little statues. I almost bought a couple, but I have to save my funds for the gaming stuff instead. And thanks to the owner who gave us a grand tour of his store!
Just some of my boxes of games and stuff. I have more at my parents house, and more in my basement....lol I know I know, but some of you must be this way as well. Somebody?????
I have games stuffed all over the house. It's like find Waldo. For Casear...aka Harvest Moon Boy = )
Here is just some of my toys. yep it's just that bad. I feel better now that I've come clean...lol
I will not defend this next one, cause I don't have to. There is a hint in this one. You got it?
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go arrange my Pokemen in order of size and element...
