A Jasper In The Box!

I don't know if this will help anyone looking for a Jasper, but it worked for me. I printed what Transman (clan member) and the net told me to look for. So no matter what, with my crib sheet, I couldn't forget.

I have a Jasper Xbox. They are hard to find in the "Pro" and don't exist in the "Elite" as far as I can tell. Best bet finding one is the "Arcade".

This is what I did. I came armed with a friend, a small but really good bright flashlight, paperwork to help me with all the dates, barcodes, watts, etc...but this is the important part. Go to Walgreens or a Barnes & Noble bookstore, and pick up a pair of those magnifying reading glasses. Try a few pairs on and read the card on the side to help you see the strength you'll need, like 1.50 or 1.75. Trust me on this, a hand held magnifying glass is a pain to use for this. With glasses you'll have both hands free--which you'll need--for the flashlight.

To make things easy, I tell the store clerk what I'm looking for. Otherwise, they want to throw you out of the store for acting crazy. You take that flashlight and pull the opening as far to the side as you can. (Don't damage the box. It pisses off the store manager.) A little shake to shift the weight to the side helps, too. (Just don't shake too hard. It might cause RROD!) With your new glasses on, you'll see all the small numbers with no problem. I went through twenty boxes in two shipments before I found one. Be persistent and don’t give up, they’re out there.

Now, if you'll excuse me, happy hunting!. . .

ok, Char I am seriously jealous, we've been lucky with ours so far...we've only had to deal with 2 coffins, our premium died once(RROD) and our elite died once(the DVD Drive died) and with both being used almost every single day, we count ourselves as being lucky.

A Jasper is M$ newest Xbox to replace internal parts from those that caused the RROD. M$ hopes with this fix that the Xbox will not overheat and no RROD. They’re hard to find because M$ being the wonderful company they are, do not want people to know this. They want to sell all those RROD Xboxes off the store shelves first (instead of pulling them and sending them to the city dump). If you’re very very very lucky and send your Xbox to be fixed--after it RROD on you—you might get a Jasper Xbox as a replacement, most likely not. I just helped a friend find one for a replacement with Best Buy. It took two stores and a lot of digging, but we got one. Here is a ink to help with this. If you know someone getting ready to buy a new Xbox, maybe this info will help them. http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3472&p=2 You can find more info on the Xbox Jasper in the public forums. AMan, you are lucky. I've been hearing Xboxes RROD in the first few weeks of opening them, to not lasting a year. I'm like "you still want to buy another one" That's one reason M$ is doing so well in sales...lol People get buying them..no matter what...go fig...lol

Oh, M$ is pulling a new one by telling some people that their Xbox didn't RROD and so it's not being replaced....Nice M$, real nice. You have to make sure all red rings are showing or they'll say it's not covered...unless you're still under some kind of warranty.
