Spring Is Here!

I bumble sleepy-eyed into the kitchen, forage for food, make some coffee.  As I watch the sun and toast pop up, I smell the apricot preserves I just opened. They smell wonderful! I start slathering the toast with cream cheese and preserves.  I think, “Wow, that smells really, really good!  More than I ever remember preserves ever smelling.”

Then, I’m cleaning up from last night’s dinner.  I’m amazed at how wonderful the cleaning spray smells. Matter of fact, my whole house smells wonderful.  I start sniffing around, “What the heck is that familiar smell?!?” Then it comes to me!  Orange blossoms! It smells like orange blossoms!” It’s my little lemon tree. (even tho it’s a lemon tree, the flowers smell like orange blossoms).  It exploded like a fireworks display! It’s bursting with pretty little white flowers.  The smell is heavenly!  As I sit drinking coffee and munchin’ toast, all I can smell and taste are orange blossoms….lol

So, I’m very happy to report that my miniature lemon tree survived the winter indoors. Yay! By the end of the first month indoors, I thought my lush green baby was gonna say goodbye. It started dropping leaves and sap (bad plant!) day after day.  It saddened me as I watched it struggle to survive.  I did everything the nursery guy told me, but it wasn’t looking good. Then about four weeks ago, it started budding!  I was shocked it had the energy, but every morning there were more and more tiny flower buds.  I gave it some plant food; at least it wouldn’t starve to death.

Now some of its flower petals are dropping off to reveal little tiny lemons. Just last summer, I got only one tiny lemon.  We’ll wait and see if I get more.  For now, I’m just happy it made it through winter and that my home smells wonderful.  We’re talking orange blossoms here. Spring is here!

I’ve been cooking and baking more these past few days. I was so busy all winter that I didn’t get to play in the kitchen like I wanted to. I’m thinking about making a lemon pie. Maybe it has something to do with smelling those blossoms all the time.

On a gaming note: Playing way too much Killzone, but not as much as I would like….Also, co-oping with William in RE5. We are having a blast. William has never played the RE series, but you’d never know it. From day one, he had no trouble whatsoever in mastering this game. It was funny at first to watch as he tried to take down all the zombies (they’re not really zombies) as they surrounded him. Not a good thing to try in RE…lol  He figured out real quick that it’s all about survival. You pick your battles in RE and enjoy Wesker’s AZZ in cut-scenes. All good things.

Pictures of lemon tree in bloom:

From the side you can see how many leaves it lost over the winter. I'm gonna put it outside today and hope that helps it come back. When it drops it's leaves it sprays out this very sticky sap all over my floor, not fun to walk over.

The best part. Wonderful smelling blossoms! If you look deep in the center of the flower you can see the little lemon.

Take two:

Now, if you'll excuse me, off to make something with lemons!. . .

Automan, that must have been somethink to see. Maybe your cat has meat stuck in his teeth and was using the needles like floss. = ) Biz: LMKO!!! You know William and I too well. XValue: now that's funny. Me a "master"...lol I've been so busy playing K2, and RE that everything else has been pushed aside. Your clan jumps like mad bunnies in that game....lol If your clan isn't unhappy with my mad unjumpin' bunny skills, I'll be back. Blowmonkey! I've been doing this for about five year and y'all are gonna laugh, but go ahead cause it works for me. Do this once in the morning and once at night, or anytime you need relief. Don't whine like a baby about it, JUST DO IT! you can thank me later. = ) Great, now my clan is gonna tease me about this.

I love spring too.... Seems like the past few years though, we haven't had spring like weather.. It's went from winter right into 80 degree weather.. Glad you had a good visit with Pearly!
