So the girlfriend and I have been in the place now for about a year and a half, and things are running along smoothly. I always had dogs growing up, and have been wanting to get one for some time now. I had many friends and family as well as my GF tell me to get a pound puppy, and if I could have more than one dog, that was certainly an option. Unfortunately, the yard is not really big enough for two dogs, and if Icould only have one it was going to be a hunting dog. I was being stubborn and was determined that I was going to buy a German Shorthaired Pointer, my mind was made up and once I had the cash, one would be mine. The stars seemed to align as I found out that a new employee and her husband bred GSPs and 'rented' them at the local hunting club. My mind was made up, I was getting one of their next litter. This past Saturday I went out hunting with a few of the guys, neither of us owning a hunting dog, and it was rough going, didn't see a single bird within range. As we walked back to the truck, my determination was cemented even further, I would have a pup by next season. We discussed going out again on Sunday, but after the experience from that morning, I was not really thrilled at the idea of getting up at 5 to not see anything again. After some pushing from the GF, I decided to give it another shot. As wee were waiting for sun-up, my buddy pulled in, but he had somebody following his truck. Somebody had either lost or abandoned what appeared to be an English or American Foxhound. Since we were in the middle of nowere, we knew it wasn't a dog from a house that followed him, and there was nobody elese out there that she had possibly strayed from. After another unsuccessful hunt, I loaded her up and brought her home to take her to the vet and have her checked for a chip, since she wasn't wearing a collar. After a trip to the vet yeterday showed she had no chip, I found myself with both a hunting dog and a pound puppy of sorts. Although not what they are bred for, I will see if I can turn her into a bird dog. If not, oh well, I have a dog. Although I didn't get any birds on Sunday, I think I came out ahead. Funny how things work out.

Looks like a sweet dog, and much mellower than a GSP. Congrats.
