The Joys of breaking phones.

So my phone crapped out on me last week.

The thing just won't receive signal anywhere. I think the term is "the stack" went out on it. What ever it is the stupid thing won't work, but I can't complain too much because it took some abuse in it's time. I have a horrible habit of leaving it on my lap after talking while driving and as soon as I get out of the car, it goes skipping across the pavement.

So because I have 5 months till I can get a new one at the discounted price I felt like my back was against a wall since they sell their crappiest phones for $200+ out of contract. So I started searching the interwebs and came across the iClones and other chinese phones. If you have never seen them, they sure look interesting.

The iclones come with 2 batteries, dual sim slots, and microSD slots for memory. I would be really interested to try one out, but I am too worried that it would be sluggish and have poor audio quality. The thing is I don't know for sure and am super curious. Because if I could use that phone on ATT as a normal cell phone the internet plan is only 15 bucks for all you can eat (all other PDAs are 30 per month).

Here are some pics of the iClones this is the i9 phone. It supports up to 8 gbs microSD storage, has shake controls, does the little flip the picture or video thing as you turn the phone, has dual sims, has FM radio and more features.

Here is a watch phone:

Here is a normal phone that gets TV reception (local channels on air waves). Which seems to be a pretty common ability for their phones.

So after doing a ton of research and coming to no real conclusion I got on live chat with ATT tech support to find out if the i9 would be considered a PDA or normal phone, in lieu of actually having to answer my question they opted to give me an early exception upgrade. So now I am just going to go with the ultra sweet Sony Ericson W760a in black. It has a 3.2 mp camera, shake controls, dedicated game buttons, bluetooth 2.0, and FM built in.

But there is still that part of me that really wants to check out a phone that picks up TV channels and the iClones. Let me know if you have any experience with the chinese knock off phones.

I think the watch phone is pretty reasonable. It is $110 bucks. I think I would feel way too much like James Bond if I was wearing it though. Next thing you would know I would start using proximity mines and slapping people.
