Man, I'm Desperate

I put an ad up on my local CL for nerd friends. Maybe I'll get a few non-freak-show hits. But living in this little suburbia with no local nerd friends or a nerd oasis to tap into is just BRUTAL.

And don't judge me!

Happily married technologically hip dad of two looking for a group of friends in nerdy places. I have friends, sure, but they don't appreciate the nerdy arts at all.

Some of my nerdy interests include gaming (RPGs and coop play) on my Xbox 360, MMOs, CCGs (MTG), tabletop RPGs, LAN parties, and horror (good and bad) /sci-fi (good and bad). Also a member of a local board game group, but they're VERY boring. This is just a small sampling of my nerdy interests, but they are broad enough that hopefully I get a few interested folks.

My age should not be a factor, but as a reference point I'm old enough to have owned a genuine Walkman and young enough to not wonder whether the moon landing was staged.

I don't care what sex you are, or what sex you prefer, how big or small you are, what color you are, or if you smoke (but you won't at my place, ever), so long as you appreciate all things nerdy. We can share laughs over lolcats, swap stories of wipes on Onyxia "back in the day", argue which Final Fantasy installment was best, and debate fansub quality over [insert anime here]. Stuff like that would be nice.

I DO care if you are not old enough to drink (I have a nicely stocked beer fridge for LAN parties, and I WILL check ID if I'm not sure), if you game enough to forget what day of the week it is (I do have a demanding job - other than being a dad - that keeps me busy, I try to get outdoors as much as possible, and have other nerdy hobbies that need attention), if gaming is as deep as you get, or, most importantly, if you are an asshole. You should not answer this post. Seriously.

Plenty of room on my 360 friends list, and I'm always game to try new things I haven't seen yet, so drop me a line, we can chat online or over 360, and go from there.

And no, we cannot have sex. Ever. But you can have sex with whoever else you want and talk about it later. I'm completely fulfilled in my marriage, she just does not enjoy these particular interests. That's where you guys come in. This is otherwise not a request, implied or overt, for any sexy time, as Borat would say.
