Movies I'm looking forward to (sorta)

Conphusion

Growing up in the 80's watching cartoons was fun.  Transformers, Voltron, He-Man, Thundercats, G. I. Joe, TMNT just to name a few.  Now with the somewhat success of Transformers 1 and 2, a lot more cartoons from the 80's are being made into movies.  Of course some of them have already had movies like He-Man and TMNT(live action version and not the CGI) which I both liked.  Just recently G. I. Joe was released in theaters which had mixed reactions.  I myself didn't like it.  With my dissapointment with Transformers and G. I. Joe, I'm having mixed feeling about these upcomming movies.  I hope and pray that these movies will be made for the fans and not to gain a quick buck.  If it can be done with LoTR, why can't it be done with everything else?

Masters of the Universe

He-Man’s return to the stage is planned in an upcoming live-action movie, scheduled for 2011 by latest released info.  The new production lineup has not been announced since the news about WB pulling out. The film will still be directed by John Stevenson - the co-director of Kung-Fu Panda, who has also worked on the Shrek movies, among many others. The draft script was written by Justin Marks.  The working title of the new movie is Masters of the Universe, but that may yet change.  This new development follows the rescheduling to 2011 after last year’s rumors about a He-Man movie in 2009 and the subsequent confirmed rumor that the movie was in fact cancelled.

Thundercats

The voices for the new CGI Thundercats movie are still to be confirmed but I’m hoping that they will stick to the original voices as far as is possible.  Sadly a couple of the original voice actors have now passed away, RIP Bob McFadden and Earl Hammond, you will never be forgotten.  Bob McFadden was outstanding as the voice of Snarf and Slythe and Earl Hammond played Mumm-Ra, Tug-mug and Amok magnificently.  Larry Kenney, the original voice of Lion-O and Jackalman is confirmed that he was keen to take on these roles again for Thundercats

The Movie due to be released in 2010, however, he had not heard from Warner Brothers at that time.  I would love Lynne Lipton to be the voice of Cheetara again, she has such a sexy voice and this character just wouldn’t be the same without her.  She also played the voices of Wilykit, Luna and Queen Luna.  The other main Thundercats voice actors were Earle Hyman, Peter Newman, Doug Preis, Rob Paulsen, Victor Trujillo and Gerrianne Raphael.

I personally would like to see a live action movie.  I can just imagine Carrot Top as Lion-O.

Voltron

A script was written by Justin Marks, the movie was ready to go, and then it fell straight into development hell.  Riskey Biz reports that the producers of Get Smart at Atlas Entertainment have picked the stalled project up from the Mark Gordon Company for development. It’s unclear whether the Justin Marks script will still be used as a basis for the film.  It is scheduled for a 2011 release.
