Great day at work 07/24/06

Copes

Well, finally a good and funny day at work.

I responded (with my rookie partner) to a simple medical call at a local nursing home in my district. We arrived and found the patient in the lunch room with approx. 50 other people. Our patient was an 85 yr old female who I've run on before for various medicals in the past. No problem with her, we ended up signing her off for treatment and not taking her to the hospital. She was not the "issue" when it came to this medical call...................

While treating our patient in the dinning room (remember with approx. 50 other people watching) there was another 70-75yr old couple sitting at the table next to us. Right in the middle of my partner taking vital signs on our patient the female sitting at the table next to us decides to get up and move out of the way. Well, while she is trying to get up out of the chair she lets out the biggest “FART” I have ever heard. My partner the “rookie” looks up at me and we both tried to hold back the laughter (knowing that approx. 50 other people are looking at us). We both lasted about 5 seconds then burst out with a laugh that would not just go away. It was to the point that we both were crying……ha ha ha

Now 5 seconds is a long time to try to hold it back….just think of that type of situation. Also remember that we are Fireman who have farting contest with our coworkers on a daily basis. The best part was the lady just walked away like nothing happened. Also this was not just some “run of the mill” tweaker fart - it was a “I know she just shit in the senior diaper” fart.

Now how do you train a rookie to always act professional in that situation……………

Well like I’ve said before my job is very hard sometimes and I see some of the worlds worst situations but also I get to have some of the best days anybody can have at a job. This was a day I’ll always remember. “The Fart Heard Around The World”.

Whatever makes your day copes man, if it made you laugh then all good I say, you might pass out from oxygen deprivation, but at least you got a good laugh first LOL.
