It all started when I decided I found the woman I was going to marry and settle down with. I said "Derek, she's the one and you should bring her before your mother." So, I moved to Texas and she came with me. I found a new job, moved into an apartment, and started on what I hoped was the beginning of our future. Needless to say, things didn't work out so well. Looking back, it reminds me of a B-17 coming back from bombing Germany in WW2. My landing gear is shot to hell, two engines are smoked, and half the crew is dead.
Reasons things sucked and I was unable to get on the internet or do pretty much anything I wanted: (Sorry, I'm venting......Bitching, what ever you call it.)
1) With in four months, it became apparent that my girlfriend and my Mom would never get along. So, they couldn't really ever be around each other with out the claws coming out or feathers getting ruffled.
2) Every single person that never paid attention to my gf and pretty much ignored her unless they needed something, while we still lived in New England, decided that they missed her after we moved to Texas. Every day reminding her about how much they missed her, how much fun they had together, and missed hanging out and doing stuff all the time.
3) Her family, did pretty much the same thing that her friends did, but they were even worse on ignoring her while there, then begging her to come back.
4) It's too hot in Texas.....I was reminded of that everyday from April until September. Really??? You didn't know it was going to be hot in Texas? I didn't realize that I had to spell out Texas is much further south and is closer to the equator than Rhode Island is.
5) I had to get a second job because work slowed down due to the recession, so I couldn't afford to buy new games or play Fighter Ace anymore. Really sucks too because the company that owned it went out of business in August. In other words: I will never be able to fly with my Squadron again and didn't get to say goodbye to them. F#$%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Fighter Ace was a MMO WW2 flight sim that I'd been playing since 2005 and I hosted events for.)
6) After saving and scrimping for months, we finally got her a new car with super great awesome A/C. Two months later, 18 wheeler rear ends new car making it its prison bitch. Lots of crying; all our money went into buying the car, so we didn't have enough to get another. The trucker's insurance and the lawyer still haven't reached a settlement. She lost her job and couldn't go back to finish her degree because we only had one car. Where we lived at was out in the country, so commuting was a big deal.
7) Oh yeah, internet is only available through satelite for $70 a month or dial up. Did I mention I had to get a second job because of the recession and couldn't afford to pay the $70 extra a month for internet. I stopped having a house phone a while ago because cell phones are much more convenient. I just couldn't constitute paying for a house phone just to be frustrated and lose all patience paying for the honor of waiting on dial up. Was worth it back in 1999, but not any more.
On Halloween day, she left me and moved back to New England......let's just say, I'm less than thrilled, but I completely understand why she left.
Since then, Fable 3 released, the new Harry Potter came out, I've moved, work has picked back up, I don't need a second job anymore, I actually have two nickels to rub together, I just got a Droid, and I HAVE THE INTERNET AGAIN. Yay!! Things are looking up I would dare to say.
Biggest down sides I've noticed about not having a gf anymore are: eating alone (It just feels weird going to Applebee's by yourself), sleeping alone every night, and it's been a month since I had sex. I know it may not seem like a long time to most people, but when you're used to it almost daily, it seems like an eternity. I should hopefully be back on XB Live soon enough, so I'll see y'all there. Just be gentle, it's been a while.......
