What's up with that?

So, I've been with 2old2play for several months and it has been great.  In the beginning, I accepted some Friends Request's from people that saw my intro postings.  Some are still on my list even though I haven't played with them.

Anyway, last night I was sitting down to eat a quick bite and I got an invite from some ArtofWar clan friends for some Gears of War.  I replied that I was going to eat and would be back in 15 minutes.  By the time I was done the room was full, so I turned to my Friends List to see what was going on.

I had a guy on there who I hadn't played with, but I knew was in 2old2play.  His Gears session was joinable, so I figured what the heck, I'll get in there and meet some more people from the site.  Well I get in the room and it is the guy and a whole slew of freakin Timmies!  15 year olds boys and girls.  The are talking smack and cursing and being so lame!  I flashed back to my Halo 2 nightmares and it reminded me why I hated online gaming prior to 2old2play.  The guys said nothing when I joined.  He was on the other team, but during the lobby time he was silent, while the Timmies whined and bragged.

I played through one match and then bowed out.  No message or any word from the other 2old2play "Friend".

So what is the proper thing to do?

  1. Send a message to said "Friend" to see what was up with the lame room?
  2. Drop "Friend"?
  3. Try again some other time?

I am not a seasoned online gamer, so I don't know how these things are handled.  I don't get why this guy was in the room with these little kids.

I finished out the night with some Crackdown and was thankful for the silence.

My guess, and thats just what it is is a guess, is that he just wanted to play a game so he jumped in a public room, just like you did with him, but he didn't want to hear the timmies so he had everyone muted and didn't have his mic on. I've done that a time or two when I really want to play but can't find 2o2p gamers. I've had that happen to me a time or two. If you are just looking to play it is okay, but if you are looking for comraderie or communication the best thing to do is leave the room and start your own so you have control of who is in there. I've booted timmies who were obnoxious and had them come back to the room and promise to play nice and they did but you have to have the ability to boot them to train them in the correct way to play. By the way, it's a pleasure having you in the clan and gaming with you.

What probably happened is he also had nobody on this friend's list with a room that had a spot open, so he probably joined some random game to kill some time.

Yeah sorry about that Cotton we had a full room for hours after I sent you that invite. I wish Gears would be 6 on six or eight on eight so we could get all our pals in one room.

He/She didn't send an invite, you just jumped in. Just because someone is 2o2p, doesn't mean he/she has no kids on the friends list. I have a few, some are relatives. Sometimes I've linked up with one, and the next thing I know I'm in a room with 16 of them. lol I wouldn't invite or join any 2o2per under those circumstances, but I can't control what happens in an open room or party.
