COULOW
Shared on Sun, 04/12/2009 - 10:43I"ve been in the Healthcare industry for 15 years. God, I feel old. I hate it. Yes, I'm helping people. I have a secure job. I just despise waking up everyday to perform my militant, structured job.
I enlisted a career counselor back in January, and after the Meyer's Brigg Testing, the personal interviews with myself, with my friends and family, and several other personality deep soul searching, I came to a conclusion, I should be in the fashion industry.
Man it's hard to find a job. I'm 10 yrs older than management. I don't have any experience. I fear that, yup, my ass is headed back to college.
Just venting here. They look at my resume, my salary, my age, they laugh.
After several interviews, I know that higher end fashion is where I'm headed, considering you're over the hill at 30. I'm fine with that. Hello Coach, Ann Taylor, White House Black Market. But my lack of NEVER being in the field is stiffening me.
Looks like I'm not going to be playing alot over the next 2 years. Coulow needs to get a B.A.
Here's my current info, so if y'all are curious or just don't care, I'ma tell yah anyway, I'm a Cat Scan Technologist, with 7 years experience, specializing in Cardiac and 3-D rendering. I was a Certified Nursing Assistant and EMT-B before (at age 16-24). I've worked at MA General Hospital and with the latest technology in Radiology. The only thing keeping me from Management is that I'm only at 7 years. Not 10. Other than that, I've got all it takes for a management roll in Radiology. Hell, I've got more under my belt than my current boss.
I just can't stand it anymore. I needed a vent. This seemed at the time the best place to do it.
So. I shall now look into a college I've chosen and already spoken personally with the department head.
If you spend 40+ hours a week at a job. Shouldn't you be doing something you love?
PS Yes, I know alot about Cardiac and I'm keeping tabs on my brethren that are having heart troubles. I'm watching you guys.
That's all. I feel better. Needed that. Responsed not needed. Thanks for letting me post.
