That's right bitches, I am totally STOMPING A MUDHOLE in WallyBR right now in regards to our weightloss/fitness competition.  This morning I tipped the scales at a scant 179.8, which is a current loss of exactly 15 pounds and the halfway point of my goal.  I hear he has lost something like 8 pounds.  A mere trifle when compared to my momentous accomplishment.  Give up now Wally.  Just go to Bojangles, get some of those delicious biscuits that you love so well, curl up in a corner booth and chow down on them while you sob uncontrollably about your unfulfilled dreams.  Try not to cry on the biscuits though, they don't need to be any saltier.

I haven't played video games much since the start of the new year, and I certainly haven't been online more than twice.  Even having Sunburned Goose's 360 in my house for a month wasn't enough to tempt me to play.  I have a new passion now, or rather, I am finally fulfilling a dream that I have had since I was a "Timmy" and that is taking up just about all of my time.  I'll have a new blog post on what that "dream" is very soon, but right now I'm just enjoying the hell out of life because I finally have the time, space and finances to do something that has been on the back burner of my life for more than 15 years.  It's also fortunate that I decided to start getting in shape a few months ago because that is coming in very handy.  Anyway, more details coming on this subject later...

But I say that to say this, I fear that my video game playing days may be drawing to a close.  Not permanently, mind you, but certainly a drastic cutback is in progress and likely to continue.  I may even follow my buddy Raste's example and sell off my collection.  I have an embarrassingly large stack of Xbox games that I know full-well I will never have time to play.  I still have my original Playstation in a box with a handful of classics like Final Fantasy 7 & 8, and Grand Tourismo 2.  I even have an 8-bit Nintendo system in the original packaging.  The big set that came with two controllers, the light gun and the cartridge with Duck Hunt and Mario Bros. on it.  (From the long-gone days when a bundle actually saved you some money and contained everything you needed to play.)  I haven't played the Nintendo in more than 5 years, and I think it is time to let it go.  The Playstation needs a new home too.  I can't imagine that I would actually get the urge to hook it up and play through FFVII again.  Somebody else deserves that experience.

As for selling the Xbox....well, I waver on that one.  I could certainly stand to sell off at least half of the games, like the ones I've already beaten or that I just don't enjoy that much.  Getting rid of the whole system is really the "Nuclear Option" and I don't think I'm ready for that yet.  I'd like to hang on to the console and Halo 2 so that I still have the ability to get on and hang with some 2old2play peeps, even if I don't take advantage of that very often.  I need to put together a list of all the games I have and see if anybody on the site wants them.  I bought most of them used anyway, so I'd be selling them dirt cheap.  If you have an interest, you may want to check back at this page for the next couple of days to see what I decide to part with.

It's a goddamn shame, but I think I am actually becoming too old to play.  I just can't seem to make time for it anymore and I don't even want to most of the time.  I will be keeping my DS Lite though.  That thing is like my casual crack pipe.  I don't hit it very often, maybe once a week, but I always have a good time when I do.  If they could make a console that is that easy to use, with games that load instantly, I might be able to get back into the scene, but right now it appears that consoles, as I knew and loved them, have died and their demon spawn are weak-sauce, PC wannabes that frustrate me more than they entertain me.  "Next-generation" my hairy ass.  I thought about writing another rant about this, but I'm not sure I have the strength.  It's just too damned sad.

By the way Wally, my abs are starting to show up a little now.  Does your wife prefer Cuervo, Sauza or Patrone?  Cabo Wabo perhaps?

Don't talk to ME about really being too old to play! As Devonsangel said, "you may not have the time, but never too old."
