Hurricane Earl ... a bust

Well! Earl was a bust. Extent of damage ... 5 hours without power and 3 branches broken on a maple tree!

It was a Category 1 when it made landfall ... but fizzled off pretty quickly when it hit the cold waters of the Scotian Shelf.

At the peek of the storm they had 200,000+ homes without power. We were lucky to get it back so quickly.

I guess when you've lived through Hurricane Juan (2003) anything less is a walk through the park!!  It took some area up to 7 days to get power restored back then!

We played a bunch of board games and I polished off a book I had half read. Shame it takes a hurricane to foster quality family time ... Laughing

I wish I knew how to add a photo. I asked Mom about you ... she laughed and said something about not being able to pop a Cherio ... mean anything to you? ;p

Good to hear you made it through with little damage. I heard that the eye passed right over Mahone Bay. Where abouts are you?

Cole Harbour. It came ashore at Lockport and made a b-line for Mahone Bay ... up to Truro and to Charlottetown PEI. We didn't see the sun through the eye but the skies lightened up. Mother-in-law is in Charlottetown and they saw the sky clear (eye). Where you from Claude?

I'm from Virginia. But, I usually make it up there at least once a year. I have family who own a place up there.

I'm just glad I could comfort your Mom in this time of need.
