Not my Little Johnny ...

Here we go again!

There has been a rash of swarmings not too far from where I live. A hand full of Timmies approach unsuspecting pedestrians, apparently acting as sweet as pie, asking for a light. Once the the smoke is lit the Timmie(s) pretend to start off on their merry way and turn around and sucker punch the unsuspecting pedestrian up-side the head ... followed by their buddies jumping out of the bushes. The end result is defensless people in the hospital.

I can't help but ask myself ... do these guys really feel all macho about sucker punching and swarming people who can't defend themselves?

The media blames the parents.

See in Canada we have the Young Offender's Act which basically does a couple of things; first - you cannot publicize the name(s) of the offender(s) in the media. Second - they get a slap on the wrist. Third - their criminal records are sealed or destroyed once they get to the age of majority. This is the perfect training grounds for would be criminals. They get to practice their craft and when they fail and get caught ... they get to do it again - better next time - because there are no consequences.

Don't blame the parents - make the kids accountable for their actions and have consequences attached to these actions!

Let's see how cocky they are when they run the risk of having to spend jail time ... with Bubba as a cell mate!!!  "You look mighty cute in them there jeans, Boy!"

But Michael Moore tells me that Canada is the land of pacifism and good tidings! Seriously though, wasn't there something like this happening in the UK a while back? Has that been brought under control, or did they just lose interest? I think youthful offender laws make perfect sense in some cases. Kid steals, smokes a joint, etc... fine, it shouldn't follow him around for his whole life (unless he repeats). However, violence is a different animal. In a situation like you've described, it's not a kid on kid fight, but a mob mentality expressly meant to cause physical harm to a completely innocent bystander. Yeah, they should have stiffer consequences for that type of thing.

You have Bubbas in Canada? The same rules for kiddies apply in the U.S. unless the little shits are really hardcore, then they can be tried as adults and go to grown up bend your ass over prison.

Agreed. It's getting to the point where drug dealers are using minors as mules. But that's an extreme

One of these times they may try this on someone who is armed, and if there are a bunch of them you have a right to defend yourself with deadly force. All it takes is someone who is in fear of their life. Oh and this would apply in the USA, I forgot you can't own guns in Canada.

all it really will take is for the kid to suckerpunch someone who can take it who then turns around and beats the ever-lovin shit out of the lot of them. they think it's funny NOW cuz they're NOT on the end of the ass-kickin. it'll be a different story when someone comes along and they try to pull their lil "joke" and get their shit pushed in. then they'll be screamin and cryin about how "unfair life is" and they're just an "innocent children trying to have fun". lil pricks.
