PC Masterrace, dawg! (And some RB4-Rivals)

Today I finished my Masterrace console (let's not pretend here) with a LG 29UC88-B curved monitor capable of 2560x1080@144 resolution, which marks the completion of my 'ready for Andromeda' project. Well, there's always something, like HW-sonics. But seeing as I own HD-headphones (multichannel), that particular consideration isn't acute in my perception. I have been looking at different soundbar solutions, with the Sonos home-cinema option http://www.sonos.com/nl-nl/shop/wireless-5-1-surround-sound-package.html but the price is prohibitive, if I'm honest. For now, I consider my self-build steam-machine done.

The box itself:

Sharkoon case, double intake, single exhaust factor; Sharkoon WPM Bronze 600w PSU; Asus z170m-plus mobo; Skylake 6700K CPU; Scythe Mugen 4 towercooler; 32Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4@2400 and a MSI GTX1080 FE Reference. It's held back by a NAS2TB Seagate, but since NVME/SSD is like the SonosHW prohibitively expensive, it'll have to do until the prices on NVME based storage come down or until I strike it rich. For now, the system eats everything modern I can throw at it and will soon be coupled to a 5Ns monitor, I believe that I'm good. The reason why I won't go for the cheaper SSD solutions is because of the fact that like my HDD, those units are held back by SATA. I'm building a fast system afterall, and I don't want to settle for 'yeah, it's SSD and still not what I want but I bought it anyway'. There's such a thing as buying good and buying stupid. With NVME being the future standard and the prices on them slowly dropping, I believe that buying SATA-form SSD is buying stupid. A halfway solution that's getting ready to call a cab.

Pictures of the more or less finished systeem come soon. The monitor is still in transit.

On the RB4-Rivals front I'm happy to do virtual shredding in a 2o2p setting once more. It gives an extra motivation to my play to do well as to help our crew of three to go forward. A crew of three, yes. However, if you're into RB4-Rivals and want to get involved, befriend Big_One (his XBL-tag is in an earlier post here) and get invited into the crew. Other than that you help getting the crew in the Bloodstone-tier, we don't expect you to sign your life away in order to get there. We have room for seven guitargods more, so get back in the grind and play with a reason.

For the rest, I have been exploring the wonderful world of Yakuza0 on the PS4. (I'm a full spectrum gamer, yo!) I can only say that this much Japan might not be for everyone as the world is suitably alien to western eyes (Good thing I'm as asian as they come). Yet, if you want good fun and a good story that isn't western fuckery like Mafia3, you shouldn't look any further on the PS4 and lay down the cash for Yakuza0. Once I've spent some more hours with it, I'll do a write up. The problem is that there are two protagonists that each have their own full blown story complete with side-mission and distractions like Sega Outrun, darts, dress-up doll waifus and finding the perfect whisky or gourmet riceballs, it may take a while.

Till then!
