I'm getting mightily annoyed with damage. Damage as in the way I do it, the enemy receives it and how double-team damage fucks up any MT. First off, my SK-Juggernaut was Immortal. She has the best base-dmg LS with rank 5 mods having stats that are THE stats for her class/skill. She's laughably pathetic. As totally pwnage her conversations are, as totally fucktarded her DPS is. Conversations don't kill enemies though. I have no problem with how the SK has to drive their focus up to free up more devastating attacks, it's exactly how the WoW-warrior works and I'm comfortable with that dynamic. If only the more devastating attacks were, you know, devastating especially once you wield the top-tier weaponry with the best tier mods for your level-range and area. Tanks do little dmg, I know that. Tanks have to grab aggro and hold it. Bioware got the former down to detail, but fail to provide aggro-holding attacks that aren't suicidal.
Picture this: SK starts a fight by freaking going into a salto mortale from across the map, wildly swinging their lightsaber! Take that, monster!! Sk follows it up with a low-ball attack to drive up Focus (because Force-jump doesn't provide enough Focus) and then they are poised to deliver the devastor, the fight-ender... which goes *plic*. Uhm, sorry monster, let's try that again. Lowball attack to drive Focus, ready, here goes!!! *plic* With a bit of luck, one of those attacks will have critted. (When you're born on sunday, 3x3 years old and are playing on 3 minutes past 3 PM on the third day of the week and are otherwise extremely lucky.) Then the SK will have whitled away maybe half the health of a trash-monster somewhere while coming close to an inch within their own death.
And how exactly am I supposed to tank anything when the game pre-kills enemies (Because a partymember started (yes started!) a high-dmg attack) without showing it on-screen but locking me out of all my attacks leaving me wondering why the fuck my SK isn't doing anything? Just give me the fucking swing!!! I don't care, give me the fucking swing, animate the monster's death and let me move on to the next monster. I seriously wanted to be a Tank so the guild can call on me for MT-duty. But fuck that. I have to use the lowball attack too often so monsters lose interest in me. I have no taunts, no way to keep monsters glued to me other than the big attacks, which eat far deeper in my Focus than the return I have from the lowball focus-driver.
The fantasy of my SK being a total darkside bitch who contempts all living entities is only in conversations. Outside of conversations my SK is just another loser with a lightsaber. All the work I have put in to getting the best gear and mods for my level-range and area amounted exactly to nothing. Darth Cassiss is fucking Darth Canterbury. Cassiss is a worthless bottomfeeding Zabrak with a bad attitude. Oddly, I have another vision of being a Dark-side Sith than this, though.
I dropped the Immortal skill-tree and went pure DPS, Rage. Haven't tried it yet, but if Rage is as pointless as Immortal I'm scrapping Cassiss and will look into another class. I don't wanna be a weak-ass loudmouth with a toy-saber. I want to be a total dark-side mofo with awesome battle-skillz. I want to cash the checks my mouth writes. I want to be a Sith. It's not enough to look like a Sith. If it were, I wouldn't waste time playing SWTOR, because then a wallpaper on my desktop of Darth Cassiss would suffice.
I like my spaceship though and the spacebattle missions, albeit being paperthin, are enjoyable. In space, Darth Cassiss destroys the Republic Navy singlehandedly. Just don't ask her to tank for you. Give her a spaceship and point her at the enemy though. She'll set the galaxy ablaze.
Really, I'm getting tired of hoping that it'll get better as I progress. But seeing as my work in outfitting Cassiss with the best gear possible was a pointless endeavor, I'll prolly have to settle for "this is all there is", probably.
WoW:
Haki is vacationing in Darnie. She's only doing the cooking and fishing dailies there, because I'm concentrating on SWTOR. (So I don't fall too far behind with those in the guild who play SWTOR as their only MMO)
Sims Medieval:
I've gotten this during the Season's Sale on Steam, for a song and a smile. I like the idea that is behind this title. It's only called the Sims because of the backbone that was used, the Sims3 engine. The game is goal-driven and gives you some leeway to play randomly but curbs that random play with "responsibilities"; tasks that are on a timer. When the timer on those tasks runs out, you default on them and you take a hit on how other simmies in the world look at you. The Sims Medieval is a surprisingly robust kingdom management simulator though and most certainly enjoyable. It isn't pick and play though. If you're looking for a Sims game that has that, I would advise you to pick up The Sims 3.
The craziest thing is that Medieval is also coded by EA-of-Canada. It almost redeems them from the total fuck up The Sims 3 was a few years ago, though they have valiantly worked to turn that around. I would tentavely say that EAoC is getting their shit together! But they are still EA-of-Canada and so they'll have to work twice as hard to leave a favorable impression then other studios have to.
