eBay

I know a lot of people who hate eBay/PayPal.  While I don't love their pricing policies, there is something strangely addicting about selling stuff on eBay.  I find that I kind of get on a roll once I start selling.  I sell a couple of games or an old DVD player and suddenly I'm looking all over my house thinking "what else can I sell?"

It's especially cool when you find something you own (like an out of print DVD or a duplicate Lego set you picked up on clearance) now selling for 4 or 5 times what you paid for it.  Once, while cleaning out an old file cabinet at work, I found a still sealed copy of MS-DOS 3.3.  I got out on eBay and was amazed to see what it was selling for as a "computer antique".  One man's trash truly is another man's treasure.

DOS 3.3?! I've got copies of 2.x (now with subdirectories!) with manuals. Maybe even a copy of 1.x somewhere in this mess. I don't know why anyone would really want these diskettes. If you try to read them the drive w/r head will scrape off the oxide....

I think what you are doing is great and shows a lot of savvy. I need to master it as well.

Dude- I LOVE Paypal- 'cause it has allowed me to build rockets. How's that for some "Circle of Life" shizzle? Who knew that selling a toaster with a naked dude's reflection in it would eventually pay for my salary? Or old car parts would inadvertantly help fund the new parts on the newest commercial space vehicle? Crazy stuff! :)

My friend sold an empty bottle of absolute from his trash can for like $10...ebay is amazing. Turns out the buyer had a business turning alcohol bottles into lava lamps and had more demand than his local bars could keep up with...so as stupid as we thought he was, he made about $30 profit on our $10 bottle.
