Hell, you can't even buy a 360 game now without a Best Buy blue-shirt agressively insisting that you get a PRP. Today's experience was with Office Depot, as I attempted to buy a nice leather chair for my office.
After the Depot dude drug out the box for me and I thanked him, he began trying to sell me a floor mat (my guess is that it's a high margin item that they use when you're buying something non-electronic). The conversation went like this:
Him: I'd highly recommend you get a floor mat with this.
Me: No thanks
Him: What kind of flooring do you have?
Me: I really don't need a floor mat?
Him: Do you have hard wood floors? If not, you need a floor mat.
Me: No thanks. I don't like 'em.
Him: You're going to want one unless you like having tracks on your carpet.
Me: Tracks?
Him: Yeah, the grease from the chair wheels will leave tracks on your carpet.
Me: That doesn't happen with the other chair I have in my office.
Him: Then it must be old, because that's how all the chairs move now -- grease. Otherwise, they wouldn't roll.
Me: Okay, I don't want a chair that gets grease on my carpet. You can take this back to the stock room. See ya.
