Lack of appreciation

Yesterday, I took my son to the sports card store.  He's gotten into collecting baseball and football cards and he has an uncanny knack for picking out good packs of cards, but I'll get to that in a second.

As we were walking in, this hippy-looking dude in surgical scrubs was walking in behind us.  He was saying "Stupid Brewers, they suck.  They deserve not to make the playoffs.  They should be kicked out of Milwaukee."  I felt like asking him when the last time the Brewers played a meaningful game in the month of September, much less the last week of September.  Hell, this is the first time the Brew Crew has played a season over .500 since 1992.  Show a little appreciation for the fact that they brought some fun back into baseball in Milwaukee.

On to my son's good luck at "card pulling".  Three weeks ago, he bought a pack of 1991 Upper Deck football cards -- and it had two different Brett Favre rookie cards in the pack.  Two weeks ago, he picked out a pack with a Chad Johnson jersey patch.  I looked up the odds of that and it's 1 in every 3,600 packs.  Yesterday, I had him pick out a pack for me and he snagged one with a Brian Urlacher jersey patch.  If this keeps up, I may have to have him pick a lottery ticket for me.
