Redneck rummage sale

I mentioned in a previous blog that Thursdays are trash pick-up day in my neighborhood, but it's also the day of what I call the "redneck rummage sale".  Usually between about 6am and 7:30am, folks show up in my neighborhood and scavenge through the stuff people throw away.  In a way, it's kind of cool because if you want to get rid of something large and that the garbage man wouldn't normally take, all you have to do is set it by the curb.

This morning, I saw a minivan with the back wheels jacked up like it was a monster truck.  The woman that got out was pretty excited because some people about a block away from my house were moving and there were clothes baskets, a hamper, and some shelving units.

I guess the saying is true, "one man's trash is another man's treasure".

That's how my ex use to get toys for our kids. He came home one day with a kitchen set. I asked him where he got it and he said someone was throwing it out. I told him it could go back where he found it.
