Viva Progress

I've made considerable progress in Viva Piñata in the last couple of days.  I've made it from level 22 to level 33.  My main focus has been dealing with sour piñatas and attempting to tame them.  Some of these, like the mallowolf and the bonboon are real pains in the ass -- and the path you have to take to taming them is complex.

Still, it will be nice when I don't have to worry about these guys, though I may have many more iterations of sours to deal with between level 33 and level 50.  A great part of this game is the discovery process.

I opened a mine in the corner of my garden and besides some random seeds, I've gotten 2 seeds for gem trees (anyone know how to fertilize these -- I can't seem to get bonus growth out of them) and I've gotten an egg of some sort.  When I highlight the egg as if to sell it, it just says "none" for description and value.  I thought I could get a cluckles to sit on it and hatch it, but that didn't work.

Also, at one of my recent level upgrades, I was awarded the game credits.  Normally, I'd say "who cares?"  But these are quite good.  I quit watching them after about a minute because they were showing piñatas that I'd not yet gotten too and I wanted to save the surprise for "in game".

Man, that's serious business you got down to! I love Pinata, but after one hour of listening to Dutch voicetalents adressing me like I'm 5 years old I throw the controller down in disgust.

As for the egg... you need something in your garden that can "peck" eggs open (only hint you get ;P). They give you very rare pinata. For the gem trees, just like every other plant, look for the tree to "flower" (the things that shed after they appear) at each stage of growth (I think there are three stages). When you see the little flower bud, sprinkle away. Learn to get good at it... bonus growth is definately the best way to level up in the game. The sours (which there are only eight of them) really are a bitch sometimes. Just make sure to whack one until it's candy then check the item shop. You should then be able to purchase a statue (for the sour tower) to keep that particular sour out. That way, you can meet their requirements while they can't come in your garden and mess things up.
